Not upset my man, simply pointing out that such efforts and even the defender getting inbetween the ball and the man make the game what it is.
Itd be a boring game without efforts like that, and the brilliance of things like that rivaldo goal would be sorely missed
Brilliant goal holland

Sorry, that might be incsensitive depending where you are from.
are you stupid? when the ball is comming that hard to your face, or your ballz. Its natural instinct to defend ur body parts.. especially soccer ballz. they hurt
man i was hoping netherlands get atleast some red cards so that we can own them with more ease..

lol in the Ghana match the ball was not heading for his face. Therefore if he put his arms up to protect his face then the ball would have still gone in the goal. But as we all could see very clearly both his arms were at either side of his head and the ball was nowhere near his face.
Anyway Uruguay got their comeuppance and hopefully they will end up 4th.

lol i'm very dynamic with my choices.

I take it on a match by match basis.
However, i am sticking with Netherlands now because they have never won the World Cup before.

As professional players, I would think they would train out any instincts to grab the ball with their hands, whether the ball is coming at their face or not.

If the ball was going for his face, he simply would have turned his head and headed the ball away; it's training. But the ball went over his head, and was going into the net, so he raised his hands. It wasn't instinct in the sense that he was protecting his face, it was "instinct" in that he wanted/needed to do everything in his power to stop the goal. Too bad he wasn't the Keeper.
