Yes, the phased planet couldn't be captured.

I understand that players may use this as a means to keep their planets from being stolen. But there are better ways to protect ones planets that still allow you to make use of them.

Phased planets won't help you win the war.

I suppose with that in mind, since it takes 24 hours for it to travel to your realm, you have to wait 24 hours to put a supergate around the planet.

Ok, I've added phase bombs to the original post, so new people see it.

I've decided to expand on it this a little more

TacticalCommander wrote:Defense
--travel through the gates and assist in the defense of your planets against planet conquering missions.
--How? I don't know for sure
---Maybe just have them infuse a bonus to your planetary defense.

Idea 1
Defense
-As mentioned, just add PFB power to your planetary defense power.
--So PFB's wouldn't take any damage
----or take normal weapon damage like a normal defense weapon
--Planetary defenses would take damage from attacking fleets

Idea 2
-PFB's intercept and attempt to destroy as many attacking fleets to reduce the attacking fleets attack power before they attack the planet.
-Either
--Attacking fleets ignore the PFB's to save all their attack power for engaging the planetary defenses.
-or
--Attacking fleets also fire at PFB's also destroying a number of PFB's before they attack the planet itself.

Idea 3
-Depends on how powerfull PFBs are weapon wise,
-They attacking the attacking MS
--Not so much to damage the MS, but more along make the MS use enough power defending itself that it doesn't have enough to move the planet. Even if the attacking fleets defeat the planetary defenses.

I personally favor idea 2.

Finally something to work with,

After thinking this through, and given the idea that those who don't use the update, aren't hurt by it either, I've decided to remove the portion where the fleets defend planets.

Example, those who do use it, would benefit from increased planet protection, where as those who don't would be hurt by it.

Instead they just phase other peoples planets.

Adjusted, when you build a gate system, it builds one around each planet, if you get a new planet, a gate is automatically put there.

Now, given there is still a slight imbalance, same imbalance that effects current planet defense and MS fleets. This is a success/fail form attack. IE, theres no way to mass it into phasing.

So given that I propose a slightly different form of successful attack. Its not as simple as who does more damage.

I'm not a math artist, but an example of what I'm thinking of

Attack strength =Chance of success = Defense Strength
100x greater = 100% Chance = Defense 100x Less
50x greater = 75% Chance = Defense 50x Less
Equal = 50% Chance = Equal
50x Less = 25% Chance = Defense 50x Greater
100x Less = 1% Chance* = Defense 100x or more Greater

*Rational, there is always a chance for success. What that number ultimately ends up being I leave for other people to decide.

Now before you weep an moan about this, keep in mind, theres still PPT (admittedly that mostly benefits your UP/Income) and you still have Merlin's thingy which can protect planets.

Keep in mind, this is a temporary thing, your planets will come back to you undamaged, and you can always choose to not use the gate system and not be hurt by it.

On side note, don't get me in a logical arguement on having regular gates before supergates, because if you argue the game doesn't have stargates, then techniquely there is no basis for which the term super is needed for, in which case, these would simply become stargates, which would be giant, but regular gates anyway, because there would be no smaller existing gate system to compare them too.

lol what a hoot

on topic: i like the idea of phashing out a planet would be much better after a full mass of someone and most likely easier than massing a planets def and taking it so less planets would be stolen (maby)
your math makes sence and i liek the idea of how people who dont use the update wont be majorly affected by it but the can stil be at a loss but they woudl still have a choice to use it or not i really like this idea

edit: good to see it got stickied

The mothership must be given weapons to blast through the super gates(if it is powerful enough)

When a player attacks a planet with super gates, an option must be popped up asking whether to fight with the super gate and take the planet or to abandon it and run

remember, fighting with the super gates requires more powerful weapons and a good ms, else the ms will be destroyed

then you will have to buy a new ms

A super gate will cost some 250 billion per planet (so it is very unique)

Howz this idea :-D

and then you have to maintain it so id say it should take a portion of you income just to have one

bit confusing at first, but this is actually a good idea for planet wars :D
