I have played 3 games, changes have ruined each one of them.(talking about big changes)
The admin does small updates now and then which are great. it makes it fresh. Like when he brought MS in and planets.
What do you mean by they aren't being given a reason to stay?

yes I think SGW is doing well. 82,969 players total thats a lot of players. Although not all are active. But a few thousand are. Which makes the game great.
