Lord Balor/Alpharius/Severian: A Personal Tribute.
Hopefully this will be somewhat adequate, and fitting in my mind for a king amongst men.

The war between Rome and the barbarians was long over, the smoke blown away, the bodies and wreckage cleared from each battle field. Severian was tiring of his duty as diplomat, representatives of countless alliances came and knelt at his feet begging for a pact with Rome lest they bear the brunt of the Roman army’s greatest soldiers.

He paced the bridge of his mothership, looking out over the worlds of Rome. Their battles fought, they had turned their focus inwards and were focusing on concentrating their efforts into self improvement. I, myself, being a new member to the Roman army, had yet to be tried in battle amongst my Gladiator friends, but felt secure in the knowledge that I could call upon Severian’s knowledge and skill if the need arose.

He seemed restless, and distracted, often disappearing for long stretches of time without a word to anyone. Doubt began to grow in my mind, and I worried for his safety, physical and mental. After an extended period of absence from the Empire, I returned, looking forward to seeing my mentor again. My hopes were sorely dashed.

I moved from planet to planet, from sector to sector, fruitlessly searching for my friend. Despairing, I exhausted as many attempts of contact as I dared, without success. He was not to be found.
I ordered my men launch an empty coffin into the voids of space in honour of my friend. Watching the sunlight glint off its cold, hard edges, I swore to not rest until he was again found. He was gone, but not forgotten.



I’m not trying to rip off, or imitate him in any way, this is just my way of saying goodbye to him, and hopefully letting him know that there are those out there who want his companionship at least, even if he will never more be a SGW player or TLE member…

So long old friend, I’ll speak to you soon hopefully.
