I also do not like the new update. There are three inactive players well within my rank that I cannot attack anymore due to the army size being greater than mine. These people have not built a single defense in weeks and now I cannot touch them.

Maybe there would be a way to adjust the attack % modifier.

Rather than making the % attack mode based completely on rank, instead change it to rank and army size.

It could go something like this:

Player 1 - 500,000,000 planets
ranked 2000

Player 2 - 50,000,000 planets
ranked 1000


Player two attacks player one:
attackPlayerRank = 1000
defendPlayerRank = 2000
attackPlayerPlanet = 50,000,000
defendPlayerPlanet = 500,000,000

rankmod = ((attackPlayerRank (1000) - defendPlayerRank(2000)) / defendPlayerRank (2000) ))

Yes, I realize that the code is incomplete and the math isn't worked out yet, but this basic idea could work. A player with greater army size and rank would get a much more negative modifier (10% total attack strength) where a player with much smaller army and rank would do much more damage to a player with higher army and rank (100% total attack)
The players with higher rank but lower army size as well as the players with lower rank and higher army size might have a mod of 60% or so.

This can compensate for both rank stats and army stats. This would also make the playing field more even, depending on the total modifiers.

Yes he can, he still does, good or bad he changes stuff. I have sent many suggestions that were fairer to all party sizes and not one reply from any. As for wed, I have a job that prevents me from doing so.

And there is no such thing as a "Fair" update. Every update is unfair to someone.

As Deni pointed out tho, this one is just so foolish as every active account will be in the same ranks, or at best there will be 2 ranks in months. 6 months and the update is completely useless. Can you imagine what brand new accounts will be facing? weeks of farming dead accounts until one day they find out the hard way what happens when you hit a live account.

I agree with all above. Also, you can't godquest people outside that zone, so if a higher covert guy wanted to help his friend find whose hitting him, he can't.

It does give the newer players time to get themselves established but as soon as they hit the 1/5th mark of the larger players, then they are mince meat.

from 5x to 1/5 army size means that there will be an ideal size for a sniper account - 'just' about the 1/5th mark so that when they start to be destroyed, they drop below that mark and cannot be touched by the players attacking them.

The update seems a little short-sighted to me

Well this update is total BS as far as i am concerned!

I cant even recon or god quest guys so i just had to waste 400 AT to find out if i can deascend some guy or whether hes restocking his LF

and now i gotta waste another 400 AT to see if i can get the next guy

See the greatness of this server? My personal levels are at 500 and i gotta waste 1/5 of the maximum turns to find out if i can actually hurt some guy with levels of around 180

i wonder what the next awsome update will be :?

Once again, Jason has made an update to the game that has no basis in reality. Which further leads me to believe that he is suffering some kind of psychotic break and should probably be hospitalized. Only an idiot or a madman would have implemented this update.

I have been playing sgw for hmm probably almost 2 years now....since then i have either liked or at least accepted or seen some reason for each update and have never complained (except a bit about nox :lol: )

This update, however, is...Horrid. Oh - and useless :lol: :(

this is pointless... practically all active players are still attackable - the inactives can NO LONGER BE DESCENDED. Ascention server is therefore pointless to play if you newly ascend.
Dont build up? have absolutely no fear of getting descended

ok here is the deal

someone ascends. changes ascended name. ok fair and square.

BUT chooses not to invest in charisma fleets etc

grows 1 planet per day. Yes 1 planet per day.

makes 6 minimal ascensions.

doesn't do anything at all

can be descneded only by ppl who have below 100 planets

....

See what this update has done?....its made me agree with someone from TLE!! lol :lol:

but mato is 100% correct here :-D

Dont forget they can make failed recon/assasination/sabb attempts or mass some men on any def and keep there population low.

Coupled with putting everything into LF enhancements and ascended defense enhancements. And once again undeascendable accounts.

Not to mention they can farm dead accounts in there range so they have a good supply of dmu to enhace their accounts with.

Novel idea.
