I recognize both instances that this thread originally was talking about. In fact I'm the guy who asked about planet creation formulas... Of course I'd just be happy to see the entire source code... Isn't this based of gpl'ed code anyways? If so the code has to be available... if not, well, still FOSS FTW!
But more seriously. I do find the rudeness and the illogical, passionate jumps to conclusions (without bothering with the facts) to be highly irritating. And no, its not because its the internet... I take part in several online communities-and it is only SGW where I see this (yes, I know it exists elsewhere-its of the places I frequent that SGW is the only place to have this).
I understand that this is an RPG, I have no problem with roleplaying, threatening, some taunting, etc. Oftentimes though threads get turned in to no more than playground brawls with the accusations and namecalling, and no logic or reason-just heated tempers and people acting like they were back in gradeschool. Something needs to be done to bring it back from that. I don't have any answer at the moment. But I'd love to hear ideas.

Well its like Pef. He sees someone start growing in any shape, way, or form and instantly he calls cheater. Treat this like the Boy Who Cried Wolf or a baseball game, 3 strikes you're out.

Why waste admin's time with garbage?

I don't think we should waste admin's time with garbage. In fact I don't want to waste anyones time (including my own) with garbage. Thats why the question of what to do about all this garbage. Although, tbh, most (not all) of the players who have been around for a while don't have that problem. So maybe somehow exerting your influence... *waves hand* these are not the words you're looking for </jedi mind trick>

but imo manners aren't needed in here

So if I get it right being rude, never polite/always being bad to people and always defensive/aggressive is what everyone should do, because some people wanted it to be so?
Wow what a wonderful world that is   (<<were I serious there? Of course no! )

Seriously I'm bad with bad people and good with good people so I don't feel bad at all with this social relationship policy ;)

that's exactly...if ppl tell me to stuff it well stuff them too...
i think why not...if you're not gonna stop those few people then why not join them...
what i'm saying is since everyone feels that 'some' are allowed to go trough well then why should anyone have a beef if there were even more, heck if even the entire forum was proceeding the same way...by not doing anything you might as well encourage it...

I'm bad behaving/not taking care of with bad people I am good behaving with good ones, no idea if you meant it, but anyway my real character behind rp can be defined this way.

politeness gets u jumped, beat up, and stuffed in a trash can full of cafeteria garbage.

being rude gets u disliked. so what do you do?

you crawl out of the trash can, go back to the guy who did it to you and beat him with w/e you can till you've made your point. then say sorry (cuz ur polite rememebr?)

that way you can be polite to others and they know not to mess with you! *woot

and? Where do you live? alone in a tree in the middle of the african savanna? You cannot whine about something that everyone does. Its just the natural way of things.

keatonoffskee wrote:For example, a person posted that he lost an amount of naq, that he thought it was in his bank and now its not there... then someone makes a thread saying that he is a cheater/multi and should be banned all because he posted the issue was solved a few hours later. Yes it does look suspicious, but could it just be that he was tired, forgot that he had sent that 3tril to someone on ppt to look after it for him and posting here was a delayed reaction.

erm, could it just have been that he is in fact a scammer? Maybe a magic fairy told him he would win the lotto if he didnt... Do you sit there and ponder the 'what if's' of every thing you come across in life? Or do you have the balls to make the gut call and then take it like a man if your wrong?

keatonoffskee wrote:Then upon realizing his problem had posted that it was closed and all had been worked out, that he had a msg from admin and it was all sorted. That msg could have simply said "It appears X amount of naq was sent to account Y at time Z, does this ring a bell?" Then he remembers and tells not to worry because its been sorted.

Sure looks suss, but with just that evidence some people jump very fast to conclusions.

of course they do! jeeze...

keatonoffskee wrote:Another situation is where someone asked what the randomness of certain planets that were created. He apologies later saying it was a joke, but sorry the last time i checked, when you are joking over the internet you say any of the following: LOL haha jks jokes just kidding :P xD :D in the post they were joking, or clearly state they were joking.

do you? Every single sodding time? I would beg to differ.

keatonoffskee wrote:Where have the manners gone? Soon will people be accusing others that because they give a friend lower trading rates that they are multies thus meaning should be banned...

the manners have not gone anywhere...I dont see how manners are affected by anything you said above, its not a fact of matters, its a fact of perception as with all things. and as for the latter part of that last quote, people are accused of being scammers already for it.

keatonoffskee wrote:I didnt know where to post this so I just did it in general forum, What do you guys think? Sure its ok to be suspicous, but jumping to conclusions that fast with such little evidence is just rude and offencive in my oppinion.

I think you need to spend some more time in the real world, around average people who 9/10 DONT think more then 5 seconds in front of their face. I think its not rude in any way shape or form. And I think people should not take to heart what others say, especially in this circumstance.
I think this guy is wrong and a bit 'special'
mate-trying to prove a point by doing that was not the best option... any credibility you could have had (and I agreed with you) was just lost-and you'll have to work to regain it.
