Well i agree here.

There is also the problem in where in the world people are from and their English skills.

Why well here goes: I'm from Denmark and even tho i have my char who insults and does as it wants i still cant avoid reading into what others chars write with where i am from. I have many times thought that this insult or this behavior is wrong where many others don't because where they come from thats normal and accepted. Thats also a issue we are from different countries and we have our own rules and standards we have learned and apply meaning different ways we see, white, Grey and black. It also a reason we have these classes.

Then there is the English skill i my self know sometimes because my written English aren't as good as my spoken has found my self being misunderstood which result in a lot of other issues arising it cant be helped.

Those 2 alone should be taken into mind weather role play or not it has a affect.

On that note as many who knows me here can testify i role play what i say when i don't talk mod colors and on msn when we are talking SGW is for me role play the hatred of alliances or a player the lust to mass and kick them and make them cry all role play.

I hope people don't think i hate them in RL and actually dont think we could be friends IRL as i have one of my most hated players in game as a friend IRL we talk share stuff he knows that what goes on in SGW is my char that just hate his thats it. He don't take what i say serious even tho my char never insult as bad as it could.

But Bill this also shows when i as a mod do my job as a mod i don't role play i don't think SGW i don't even look at tag as some EPA members could tell back in the days when i warned them even FreeSpirit has a warning from me he is a supermod but when he as a player or even mod breaks these rules i must step out of the role as a player and look at him as what i do and warn as it should be also why i say what happens here when i work as a mod even when people make insults or thread stays as i do not find it as in game worthy as i did something as a mod not as a player without targeting anyone.

Fortunately it's not always the case lol...because in my opinion a guy who wants to roleplay a woman is a pervert.
You won't talk the same to a man and a woman, for women you are less using slang and bad jokes, etc...so what is the interest in roleplaying a woman in this case? Foolishness of mind, or again, perversity!
So if I found out people who pretend to be women to me, and are in reality men, I'll mass them to stone age!
I don't like such twisted mind tricking on me.
For me those people can't be trusted also, they are liars as well, that's my opinion.
But liars are always found out a day or another lol
Because if you do this kind of roleplay for a long time, there's something wrong with you!

But the whole purpose is to allow them such things.

I mean in MMORPG games you can chose your sex

Well i admit i am a dude but my char is a Girl has been since i made her like 5 or 6 years ago in another game and has stayed so until now and will i like what Nimras means hehe.

personally i dont see why our ingame and out of game persona's have to differ, whats the problem in being civil to each other whether its here on the forum an ingame PM or on MSN?

i miss the old days of banter and wise cracks on the forum




edit, dont get me wrong, i'm not saying peeps cant role play if thats what floats ya boat all i'm say is this...

If I found out a friend from net of me was lieing to me and pretended to be woman while being a man I would mass him and sit on him until he deletes hehe...why? Because friendships build over trust and sincerity (well not always lol, but there are limits tho), and that would mean this person mocked me this whole time. I doubt it's likely to happen to me tho.
I don't care if people here roleplay females elephants dogs mooses or hermaphrodites (rofl) to other people, but if a person I consider a friend does it, the above applies!
But this logic has limits, because afterall there's approximately as much men as women in our countries, so one cannot pretend all women from the net are perverted and lieing men, that would be pretty stupid to think so! Another stupid urban legend that has no reason to exist...
It's more disrepectful to me than someone talking slang all the time!

the only time anyone's pretended to be a female around me was when i first spoke with dyne on MSN which was late 05 i think...freaked me the hell out!!!

No you're logical, not old skool, I think the same...women are women and men are men. No women being men etc for me! I don't like that.
When you are a man, you are a man, and when you are a woman, you are a woman! No need to go into complicated things such as playing the other gender!

Heh, you misunderstood my point if you thought that was what I'm getting at. I thrive on in-game conflict, but I wouldn't want anybody I jokingly insult on the forums or mass within the game to think that I hate them as a person. I dislike a fair few people here, but I haven't been affected enough to literally hate anybody's guts yet.

I came close with a few players whom decided it would be a good idea to use sexually charged insults to my ex-wife while she was playing and we weren't ex yet.

people I know in real life LOATH the way I act in game... generally when I post as "TheRook" I'm quite arrogant and mouthy but thats my online persona... this carries on from my early days of online gaming in FPS's and RTS games...
