Without a monsterous MotherShip or Planets, a 1:10 ratio is generally profit. 1 naq, 10 def. With planets, that ratio can go a whole lot smaller. As _Of War said, he could do 1:33, basically. It just depends on the make up.
And more or less, if a farmer is hitting you, the person is probably making profit. Most of the times where they won't is if you get AB. That's my experience - and I'm quite the farmer.
