Even if you do subscribe to the bleeding heart view that civil liberties are on the decline in Britain, I still don't think the US of A can take too greater a moral high ground on the issue.

As for the US versus Britain, you seriously believe that the US isn't much better then Britain on the issue of civil liberties? Not to say that we're not loosing ours on a near daily basis, we are, it's just no where near as bad as that in the UK.

i agree with what you say jack but my feeling is if you live in a "FREE" country any encroachment on that freedom by government MUST be resisted at all costs...

erm...i dont think i'm better than anybody, in fact i welcome ANY opinion so long as it is not in such a hostile manner and if someone knows better than me i welcome the chance to learn something new.

Definitely, and I applaud that attitude.
Still, please refrain from making insulting assumptions concerning someone's education etcetera, that would go a long way to having a civilised discussion, even if your 'opponents' are a little less verbally inclined.

I watch things such as these with an open mind and a heavy grain of salt.

Conspiracy theories and loads of bunk like this have been around for years. Loose change-9/11? Zeitgeist? Hell even Al Gore's global warming cool-aid. The third gunman and the grassy knoll. Take what you want from them but it's painfully skewed.

Oh as for the crap they play on the "news"? I can only take about 5 mins of it....

I do agree that my first reaction was visceral and could have been put better. The lovely part of varying viewpoints is what makes life interesting.

The fall of governmental morals is quite sad and as badly as people want to point at the US gov for this, the evidence can be seen in just about every country. "Absolute power corrupts..." blah blah blah and has been shown through generations of "civil servants" (another term that makes me want to vomit). The needs to be a return to a truer form of democracy than what we practice now. The politicians rally for their own causes largley leaving what the people really want by the wayside.

Personally I think the world has enough problems without someone pissing into the wind and splattering everyone with their pointless propoganda. I see this as another way to instill fear, fear leads to control which is really what these types of people that make movies are after. Ironically, all governments lead by fear, just some governments are more subtle than ones like Iran and China

Peacefully demonstrating and protesting would be playing by their rules(rules they've set out for you) and only serves to help them. As I've said before, the only victories that come from protesters, are temporary "band-aid" victories. You're not stopping them, but merely slowing them down. Hell the recent supreme court decision -while it appeared to be a true victory- was only a temporary set back, which may have even opened the doors for other types of equally restrictive gun control laws(only time will tell what happens, and there hasn't been enough time yet).

ok, i get what your saying but sadly until our leaders (both US and UK) really push to hard, people wont do anything...

we get the thin end of the wedge (which softens us up for the thick end) and we moan and when the thick end finally comes along we moan a bit more because the thin end has already desensitized us and people can more readily accept the way things are.

i'm not trying to blame America for the way the world is today, i hope thats NOT how i have come across...

in fact i blame the UK allot more for the way things are simply because much of Americas problems stem from the English banking system which Andrew Jackson (as well as other presidents) fought against so hard and its a damn shame that the monopoly of a central bank took root in the states again and its even more shameful that no president has the guts to declare the fed a criminal organization and shut the thing down.

Having read a little more on the starting of the US (AP US History this year has got me doing summer hw), I'm cynically laughing at everyone who thinks the Founding Fathers actually cared about the common person, considering the acceptance of slavery, the restrictions for the elections of President (electoral college was originally supposed to keep the masses from having a vote) and the Senate (initially appointed by state legislatures), the restrictions on voting rights (originally white males who owned a certain amount of property), etc etc...

And people act like they were gods, not guys who managed to get a lot of things right.

nobody is saying they were perfect, i leave perfection to God, but they must have had some respect and care for the common man otherwise you wouldn't have the constitution and bill of rights.

See that's just it, all your doing is being the tool they use to desensitize the people.


I say the best thing to do is just to leave it alone and let them get in over their heads. All you're really doing is telling them when the water is too hot.

i really do understand what it is your saying but i cant get 1 quote out of my head...the only thing evil needs to flourish is for good people to do nothing...

its a catch 22 situation.
