If Obama picked an "unexperienced" one, it would have been a mistake, so I think his choice is a good idea.
Obama is uniting people despite his short senator experience, and is picking a man of experience as VP to counter all claims that his unexperience would cause problems, especially on international affairs, because of Biden's experience in that subject. Sure many wanted to have Hillary as VP, and it could menace some votes. Even if she asked to vote for him, we never know how voters would react.
On the other hand, McCain has himself a disadvantage, he's oldest (if elected) president of the United States. And I'm sure MANY republicans expected him to pick one of defeated republican candidates to assist him. Those who voted for McCain because of his orientations about environment and energies will surely not be pleased to see a petroleum girl entering the VP chair. And I'm sure there are (sadly), many who would maybe abstain voting, for the simple fact his VP is a woman.

A young (wo)man can attract young people to vote, but others would point out inexperience.
A not young (wo)man would fit more presidentship, but perhaps be less interesting in new voters' eyes, who aren't in small numbers.

No I'm serious.
It means that you don't vote unless a hot woman is on the team?

so now its like this:

on one side you have an old and experienced person with someone who is new and unusual (black) but has little experience

on the other side you have an old and experienced person with someone who is new and unusual (woman) but has little experience

kinda funny how both sides have made the same type of choice, although i suppose it levels the playing field a bit.

and looks are important in this. if you are undecided on who to vote for a hot candidate can tip the balence. btw this works for both sides maybe.

I am being lazy, and haven't read through the entire debate. I agree with you on this one, and it seems the American citizenry have also. Historically speaking, when was the last time a Senator one the White House? 1960?? Gubernatorial experience pays in spades, but not always in a way I like! Toon_PDT_20

That would mean men would vote for McCain and women for Obama. :o
