Lore and Mordack did both hit the nail on the head though.

Alot of the players moods are quite low...

...and alot of the older players seem to believe that because they have been around so long, they demand respect and this gives them reason to push people, and/or rules...

Its ashame that im forced to use an old Cliche... but power does corrupt...

I mean, you Robe and Buck have been admins for...3-4weeks now, what notable changes have you three done? The mod team is STILL a shambles, half the forum is either an outdated mess with little to no relevance or a mod has become some form of urban myth. I am very fond of you and Buck, sincerely and I hope what I just typed should never mean more then a friend showing their personal concern and opinion (as far as that goes with me..)

Of all people semper, i would expect you to understand that large scale change cannot simply be implemented at the drop of a hat...The three of us have been disscussing how what and where to change, what to do about certain situations, and generally what to do about what, Do not simply assume nothing is happening...There are doors that are closed to even the supermods on these forums, where we do alot of our work independently of everyone...Changes will come, But we cannot Justify a short term solution to problems that have been pluged time and time again, Until we have looked into every possibility, and decided the best course of action, we cannot afford to be rushed into makeing rash decisions.

In all honesty the forum has always been dead to some. There's always been and in group and and out group. The in being those who either spam everyone to death or are representatives of them.

Nothing's changed. Well the only thing that has changed is the level of insults and stuff going back and forth because some things just aren't being addressed.

Just make the ban hammer more heavy against the ones who keep breaking rules. :)
In all democracies, there are laws to be respected. Otherwise, it becomes chaos and anarchy. It doesn't mean that those democracies are dictatorships, just because they have laws, unlike ignorant people tend to say all the time, that they are dictatorships.
I've seen a significant change on past weeks unlike people say, most of the crap posting is gone, because the posters are banned, or suspended, and will be soon banned because they carry on.

Changes take time, and the bigger the change/s the longer it will take to put in place, as the need to ensure it goes smoothly is greater.

I have great faith Buck, Lore and Robe will start to put in place new measures to fix some issues but whether this will actually have any effect is yet to be seen. Like people have said children will be children and there is a lot of them running around here at current which can be evidence by the fact the majority of the posts turn to spam after a very short period of them – Some spam is going to happen on every forum but what happens here is way beyond a reasonable amount that would be expected on a forum of this size.

The game the past 6-8 months has not been the best for various reasons especially various updates that a lot of people do not agree with and a lot of that has come across causing the forums to drop another level down. Well to those people instead of running around like headless chickens and complaining why don’t you try suggesting some ideas that could help the game rather than just rambling rubbish about admin.

These updates and forum issues have caused many people to quit, and the people that have gone are the people who have been able to see this and do not want to waste their time posting here especially when all people are going to do is bicker about things even if what certain members say is true and will actually help the community.

Many people pick on Severian for his posts that are normally long and for some people not worth a read as they contain something many posts on these forums don’t and that is common sense. Many people look at his posts and go oh must be TLE propaganda – Grow up people. Sev and I have been on different sides for pretty much our entire long time in this game but yet we have managed to have many civil conversations. I suggest everyone should read what he says and not just ignore it and put it down to a waste of time. Some of you may be surprised if you come out of your world and listen to him.

I completely agree it takes time phil, but how much time? You do not have to address every problem at the same time, no one is that good. although from another angle that could be asking how long Divinci would have been.

I will pm thee before we continue this!

the biggest problem is that some moderators who actually have the power to do something, don't do anything. point in fact, some of these moderators join in on juvenile behavior by posting insults and aggressive comments. this is especially true in the war threads of Fuall vs TJP task force.

anyway, by showing immaturity in the forums, moderators lose any moral authority they have. registered users see the immature or aggressive post of a mod and the immediate reaction is "if the mod does it, then it is legal". I think that this is where a disciplinary committee for moderators should come in.

at the same time, the office of the ombudsman should be given exact power. a power to recommend for the dismissal of a moderator. the exact power will be defined. once a recommendation is sent to the admin, the admin will have no choice but to implement. to prevent abuse of this system, the legalities circumscribing the exact power has to be defined.

'its now full of a bunch of squabbling children, i use the word children for a reason, children don't know when to stop they learn as they mature (or should do).'

It's been like that ever since I started playing - pretty darn close to 3 years ago.

I do grow tired of haveing this conversation every other month...Except this month i appear to be one of the people makeing the decisions...

SO...

Actions speak louder than words, Continue your thread if you must, But In the next couple of weeks, Much will be revealed. Dont get your hopes up mind you, Afterall, Everyone who has gone before has been unable to please all of you, I doubt very much anyone after will either.

dam straight

@ buck i don't hold out much hope & i doubt anyone else does, especially when we see statements like this from a newly promoted senior fellow mod

"I don't think these forums have changed much in the past 3 years."

by these comments its saying as much as, nothing wrong here, its ok, no need to do anything.

which i think isreflected in what people said in following posts

yep in this very thread ](*,)

Optimism for the future, I have, There is always hope.

I don't think these forums have changed much in the past 3 years.

Physically, there is little change, There have always been disrespectful people on the forums, but back in the day, they had style, and a touch of class, They didnt simply say "HAI your gayz" which is the level of banter we get nowadays...

Perhaps the intelligance of the forum poster has declined, Then again, the disscussions we have here, its surpriseing we get anymore other than single celled lifeforms in here...

Anyhow, The Main Problem has and always will be respect, as ive said, There are things still yet to come. Until then, Be Pessimisstic, and Maintain the idea that you all know better than the person sat next to you...

Yes, This thread and many like it are frustrating Though, And this is not aimed particularly at you STI, However, People Are quickest to point the finger, but very few are quick to offer help. There is a talk to the mods section, there is even a PM button people can use, They rarely however, Use it.

As many of you have said, no our actions have not been as fast as we had hoped, things do take time. Heck just figuring out where to start is a task in itself.

Many things will happen in the area of the Moderation team. People will come, people will go, people will change. But instead of just hap hazardly doing things we are attempting to put some form of consistance in place.

Same with the forums in general.

We had to get our heads together, and discuss things between ourselves and get a feel for each other. Now we will turn our attention to forums and try the things we have come up with.

Will they all work? I seriously doubt it. We are all human, and we will make mistakes. One thing you will see is we wont make rash discissions, and if it doesnt work, then we will try something else.

When those who are to be followed preach something and yet they themselves fail to demonstrate the example, one can hardly respect such leaders. You know who you are... preaching about respect, yet having none.
