Re: the state of this game.

Psy,

We all know that I have my reasons that if I decided to listen to the little red man on my shoulder, rather then little
white on on the other shoulder....i'd be all over your account.

You have in the past made many more enemies then Avenger, though not as many as myself :D
I have to disagree that it's for no reason, until i've heard from the person massing you.
We've made peace, but i'm just an example.

Who did it?

Re: the state of this game.

i think you just forgot to " give " somthing to the person that massed you ...

ok , no more funny stuff ,

the problem with this game is your better off having nothing cos you get puniched for having stats.

Re: the state of this game.

I'm not so sure the "good old days" ever really existed - from what I can remember there was a time when covert units could not be touched, and the limited number of ATs meant they were put to better use farming an enemy than massing them....it became who could have the highest covert and stop anyone sabbing them.... (unless I'm forgetting a feature of the game (talking around about April/May/June 05)

Anyway, rant over. You're never gonna stop people randomly massing unless you implement some of the suggestions knocking around - making sab more powerful, making more units killable, etc....

There's always a reason - even if its just to increase somebody's ME :(

Psi Kiya Trist wrote:now, for those who are actually going to listen to me and not immediately justify faulty logic of "it's the name of the game".

a "war" does NOT have you go attack whoever you feel like. a WAR has a reason, be it land grabbing, protecting an Ideal, or merely Honor.

there is NO honor in attacking an innocent.
there is NO land to be grabbed in this game.
there is NO ideals in this game anymore.

and just how there's the "war" style of playing, there's also several other ways of playing as well.
my style is that of a gift giver. i give people stuff, and get enjoyment out of it.
others are stat builders, others play for the diplomacy, and then there's those of you who play for "war".

if you play for "war", don't immediately assume that's the only way to play the game. that is n00bish.

~_+Psi Kiya Trist+_~

What! Are you all kidding me? Seriously?

nooooo...nooo..no...no...faulty logic? How can you readily make such an accusation with the faults in your logic! I mean, in an ideal world I would whole heartedly agree with you Psi, but unfortunately, this is not the ideal world now, is it? No.

so..allow me to interject...
Honour, is irrelevant...last time I checked we are in the 21st century not the medieval period. Honour has not existed since World War II and the start of globilisation and the modern age. You take what you can, you give nothing back and if not that then you respect people who have a reason to be respected. I will never take it that anyone in this world would not trample someone to get where they need, and if they would not out of some misplaced sense of honour then they are a fool, because I can guarantee their are billions of people out there who would, and I have to say it, and it is incredibly unfortunate, but here, in this day and age, honour and things like that are the qualities of the nice guy, and the nice guy finishes last. 90% of the most powerful accounts and character figures in the game, or in the world, would act in your department, without honour, trampling the innocent to get where they need. Really though, the notion of honour what the sodding hell does that have a place in here for? Fair play maybe, but this is hardly a case of who has and has not honour.

Land...well, land is a material possession. Same goes for Naq, war experience and the potential benefits of massing experience and reputation.

ideals in this game? By joave Psi, you answered your own point! THIS IS A GAME! good grief! Why dont half of you people wake up and stop giving some meaningless synthetic page with white numbers on it greater meaning than a tool to enjoyment that your not playing how it was intended.

Bottom line here kids (you can work you ways back to adults), people play different styles of play. That is near enough exactly it. And you say people should not go wild and presume people do not play the same as them, yet how else are they supposed to know? (Is that not somewhat a bit contradictory?) Is there a rule to stop them? What makes someone innocent? Is this a game with a community or is it a whole new world with greater consequences beyond postponement of enjoyment? If so, who's fault is that? Is it the person massing you for no reason or is it yours for investing better placed values on a simple game?

I would encourage this community to wisen and wake up and realise what dribble they are actually vomiting out half the time. I mean its...simply amazing.

But thank you all for a good laugh anyway.

Re: the state of this game.

i've always played this game with bare minimum defense, the highest def i have had in like 6 months was 50 bil... and i wasnt even in any war then... you pretty much have to have like no def or a def that is 3x rank 1 strike to be fine i thinks

ME=a great reason
ME= bragging rights
i must work on my ME tomorrows...

Psi... if you don't like it, ask admin to remove ME... that's the major source for the increased massings "for no reason."

Re: the state of this game.

What are these good ole days that everyone seems to speak of? I remember 2005, it was a fun time, but plenty of people got massed for just being related to players who you had a beef with...whole alliances were hit because of the actions of a former member, etc.

Just because it didn't happen to you Psi doesn't mean it didn't happen ;) Also ironic that the second-to-last time you got massed you threatened to call in your friends, including ETL who was notorius for that sort of thing.

Too often in this game people pretend the game was this magical awesome place back in the day. Sure some people have left, some new people have joined, but the wars were there, the vendettas were there, the massings were there, same as always.

Mystake, go and stuff yourself, stop following me and begging for attention.

vulture = someoen who hit me, my alliance during war. That IS a reason to retaliate. Now go back to whatever you are doing, and stop bloody following me. Attention seeker.

Re: the state of this game.

Have to agree with Psi 100%.

People are mass happy these days because IT IS FAR TOO EASY TO MASS SOMEBODY!

Back when the game actually took some skill and strategy, you couldn't simply mass whomever you wished on a whim, because it was uneconomical (and impossible) to do so. If you wanted someone massed, it needed a co-ordinated effort between a number of people - which is as it should be.

People bang on about the big wars in this game, with everyone claiming to have been part of the best wars - CiA v CoP or TJP v FUALL - Bah - rubbish! The best wars, and the ones requiring a proper war effort were the early wars. I'm talking about the previous ongoing battle between Order of Chaos against the TA and EPA, and other battles such as EPA v The Order (which in my opinion is still the best war this game has EVER seen), or the GA v TLC (and even the last one I include at a stretch!). These were true wars, where it actually took some co-operation, and sustained effort to get something done!

These days, mainly because of whiners complaining and thus ensuring that certain updates are implemented, it is possible for almost anybody to mass anybody - and where is the fun (or point) in that? Jesus, I remember staying well up into the early hours planning and being a part of a mass co-ordinated attack against OoC. We knew retaliation would come, but because the game was better in those days, and you couldn't simply buy x thousand AT from a false market, you weren't sure when that retaliation would come, so you had to be constantly on your guard - whereas these days, you're pretty sure that it will come almost immediately so you simply sell your defence to minimise damages - crap!

A number of combined updates has led us here - and I am sorry to say that the game today is a shadow of its former self - requiring the skill of a lemon, the attention span of a goldfish, and the aptitude of an amoeba!

buck wrote:I must agree with mordack on that point, You have your fair share of enemies Sigh...

That being said, There is always a reason. I cant think of any massing there hasnt been a reason for. Attacking? Attacking someones friend? Annoying someone on the forums? Annoying someone a long time ago...Revenge anfterall, Is a dish best served cold...

All of these reasons are not always obvious...

yes, but when the people in question hit me and address it as "an innocent bystander" i tend to find that a weak excuse if any.

i will admit that i HAVE done stuff that might warrant someone trying to hit me, but in both of these cases it hasn't been my fault, and that's what i'm frustrated with.

if it was for an actual reason of revenge. revenge for words, actions, or behavior. i would be fine with it. but this isn't the case.

Re: the state of this game.

well you got massed...erm apart from it being part of the game.....are you sure it's for no reason? grudges now seem to go a lot longer then ever!

and also if we do get down to the idea of teams....as a race we should all be massing you...unless you're tauri :-D

and finally the real reason.....ME publication has made a lot more people go for yet another wothless stat

Yes, the skill has decreased, and yes there are too many resources, but are you sure you quite grasp what Psi is saying wolf? You are wiser than that...

change is inevitable, it does not mean there are no ideals and the likes, just that their are different ones.
