Here's a bit of how Omega came to be formed in main. Of course everyone knows that Omega was birthed in the first wave of quantum between Nuto, Diamond Dust and myself. But within weeks of it forming, I was sole commander and basically built it up in quantum.

Meanwhile, in main, I had become friends with Iron2047, who was then in the Order of Chaos. The both of us were the first to instigate a long term programme of building up huge up and covert. Soon enough, we noticed that two others were doing the same thing, Fox and Replijake, which of course impressed us enough to get us all talking. We 4 became friends but remained separate in game. During that time I had also made friends with Steve (Goo, Libra) and actually once offered to lead a 4th division of the OOC with non Goauld members (I was no fixed race at the time, used to constantly change). They refused the offer, which did amuse Iron and me, considering that the two of us far outstripped everyone one of them except for dodgy Apophis. And the way Goo was talking, I had a feeling a pasting was coming to them. His bravado and talk gave people the impression that the OOC was immensely powerful, but some of us knew better. There's a time for charisma and free flowing talk and then there's a time to keep your mouth shut. Of course we all know what happened to the OOC.

Ok so back to Omega. I had won quantum, and garnered a reputation. Not only had I won it, but Omega had won in style. So using the core of our quantum members and the previous 4 mentioned above, Omega was formed in main. Iron and myself were joint Supreme Councilors, and Fox, Jake and Xavier were High Councilors. Our individual power was great. When we had ups in the 900s, the next nearest was in the 300s, discounting Xavier. At that time it was a huge gap. People like Apophis, JUAN, Elusive only kept up due to their huge amount of officers, at one time numbering over 100 each. (To give you an idea, when my total UP was around 5000 odd with no officers, JUAN had a base UP of 150 yet was getting about the same total UP if not more. But this was later)
Four of us also maintained a sizeable covert level. (Branching off, a month before ascension became active, I was one of only 2 people on level 22, along with Iron. The next after us was level 20, Jake, Fox, Josh.)
Ok so back to it. So there we were, huge coverts and huge ups, but ranked in the thousands although few dared attack us. I had already proven that if we wanted we could gain a top 5 rank in a turn change, which at that time was hard to do. I had gained proteges like Gunz and Aesir/Svarun. Both went on to great things, one good deeds and one evil. Lol And so life was good. Omega was growing, causing alarm among the traditional powers....and then came the major bug exploit which changed the game. Which I will go into in my next blog....lol

You do have an interesting tendency to write towards cliffhangers.. ;)
Interesting read, I have to say. Interesting to see such early stats etcetera. :D

Ah, the good old days when covert was untouchable. Now you'd get some inconsiderate bugger trying to AC you for lols. ;)

Back in the day when Replis had cheaper covert lvls, but changing race was easy, so everyone changed to repli to buy their next lvl, and then changed back

Blog 3.. 14/02/2009

I ended on a cliffhanger last time regarding the bug that had far reaching effects. Basically, admin brought out a new update where you could finally untrain your attack /defence units for naq if you wanted. Now as you know you pay less for asgard defence units and less for Tauri attack units. What he forgot to do was stop race changing during the week this temporary update was on. So of course certain people, instead of reporting this, sent all their UU to a crap account and bought either Asgard defence units or Tauri attack..changed to another race and sold untrained the units for a profit of 200 naq per unit every time. In short they earned billions of naquada by this method at a time when attacking for 10 million was alot. The few of them who exploited this basically caught up to us and some even surpassed us in quite hours using their ill-gotten gains. I provide a link of one of their convos: http://omegan-empire.com/sharp.html
The guys involved are Thor, Jay6669, brothercrit, sc ben, who all eventually combined their accounts into Metal Messia . In short, the then leadership of the Tauri Alliance. Of course they tried to defend themselves after, but they sure kept it a secret from the rest of their friends and allies. And if you read a bit, you will see they were even unsure it was a cheat. In my book, if an update doesn't work as intended and helps a small group, it is an exploit. Of course we, along with the Order's leader at the time (I forget his name) also discovered this, but reported it immediately to admin, who took steps. But by then the damage was done. This incident truly began the conflict (cold at the time) between the TA and Omega. My next blog will be about how we got some revenge and dealt with Apophis..two birds with 1 stone.

Genuinely unsure. You see, there's no way you guys would have sent a spy into COAA - we were a fun, spam alliance, but no ingame threat. Which meant he either joined on his own initiative, or went over to the dark side at some point. ;) I don't mind in the slightest. Heck, I was a spy in The Order and kept most of them as friends afterwards anyway  Just curious really.....PM me the guys' name if he really was your spy (Can't really say you'd be betraying any trusts as I haven't heard from him in years. lol)

btw, TO's leader at the time would probably be forgive_me....could probably write a fairly interesting story of those old times too :P
