Hmm, I don't know, reading your posts does a fair job of giving me insight into your intelligence. Just

There is a neuro-psychological theory thas has been developed in the last 30 years saying that intelligence cannot be quantified and is NOT quantifiable, and as such ye old man is wrong...

Maybe that's my lower-class ignorance kicking in.
Proles like myself have to make due with what we got, I might not know my iq but I can pick a set of cuffs in 10 sec's or less.
Picking the lock on a pair of cuffs is not exactly the hardest thing one can do.

I can zip my pants without getting my junk caught, p. sure that makes me a genius.

I done a few IQ tests. I got the "mensa" IQ number on all of the tests to get in but my dad done better on ones I got him to do
I think mines was between 130 and 140. I also don't buy into it but it was fun to compare to my dad. He's actually extremely intelligent.
Also.. That list of IQ thing.. Shakespeare smarter than Einstein?
132 to 137
1%
1 in 50 above 132 No limitations. Eminent professor, editor
That's where I am supposedly. Editor? Of a newspaper?
Also, that guy who wrote all that stuff on the website seems to think he's some kind of genius himself by trying to use obscure words and patronise people with less than 110 IQ

I never did a proper IQ test when I was young...but apparently I did some tests, and it was determined I was meant to pass beyond some grades that were useless for me according to them. In other words, have my high school exam one year earlier, or two, by passing thru one or two grades when I was young.
And all my professors in high school were harrassing me to do scientist studies, while I wanted to do economics, but they said I was better than that (wht the hell is wrong with economic studies?

).

When growing up we had something called ALICE tests - they were essentially like the IQ tests, trying to measure different kinds of intellectual aptitudes - mine predicted me 4 D's at A Level, and said I'd go to a rubbish university. Came out with 4 A's, got a first from Durham Uni, and stayed on to do my masters.....funny old world

How do you operationalise such an abstract term as general intelligence? How do you find measurable variables that can encompass such a broad spectrum of things? As Ashu says, such a thing as general intelligence cannot really be quantified

i've never really trusted IQ tests much, i mean id depends which service provides it. some IQ tests going around rely more on mathematical prowess, others more towards spacial concepts, so on so forth...
mind you ive never taken an 'official' IQ test, i could have a high IQ, i could have a low one. but as far as im concerned its just a number, and what matters to me is if you can apply some basic intrapersonal intelligence. someone i went to school with a few years ago was absolutely inept in any social situation. he seemed to use his 'problems' as an excuse. now fair enough if theres an issue, but this person went out of his way to be damn annoying and disruptive. on the other hand, he was very good academically. the reason i say i dont pay attention to the IQ number is simply because if we are to succeed in society (or at least society as i know it) you need to at least have some concept of intrapersonal relationships, what to do and what not to do and so forth.
i mean having a good IQ is good, but it doesnt help if you just attention seek, whine and moan, particularly in social circles or in the workplace. in most cases a prospective employer would not take too much interest if you cant work as a team member.
