Just curious there. No lieing please with crazy dream cars and stuff like that...let's be realistic for once! :-D

I start:

90's Mercedes C-Class (probably a C 200 for its costs) will be hopefully my first car, whenever I decide to get one. :) Don't have one yet, but this one would be *perfect* to start! 8)

Also, a 1995 Volkswagen Golf III could be a good start.

1. you've earned/won the money needed for this then congrats
2. if your parents are paying for this then this is not your car.

nah... not when ya're smart and go for a white van :-D

As I said, I've no car yet, for the obvious reason a Mercedes needs to have some "backup" to be owned. Even if it's 10+years used one of "lowest" class..

Hmm thinking about prices I should better get myself an used Renault Laguna as a first one then go for an used C-Class...

A first car should be something you can afford to write off. Something like an 8V 1.4l would be perfect as they have a good amount of power, get decent milage & are affordable to insure / run.

Dont get suckered into looking at big saloons or big engine cars to start with, find something small and easily managable.

Problem is, I don't really like small cars..

Hmmm there's a Skoda Octavia 1.4l...that would be ok. Or a 206, but that would make me be like others..semi medium cars like almost every young people.. <_<

Ok lets put it like this;

You get the car you want and you like the car andspend lots of cash on it making sure its in top condition etc & take very good care of it etc etc. How are you gonna feel when you get into your first accident in it?

Or

You get a small cheap easy to run car for a couple of years, you gain plenty of experience and knowledge that will stand you in goodstead fir every car you get after this one. How would you feel if you have an accident in this car, one you have just kept going rather than keeping in top condition??

And dont say you wont have an accident, everyone does eventually and its usually shortly after they get onto the roads or get thier own cars.

What's the point driving something you don't like? Unless it's offered, there's no point lol!
Spending several thousands euros when you aren't a millionaire into a car isn't something you do blindly! :)
Or at least, I wouldn't..

I see your point however, but there's the above to consider for me as well...because for me a car > just a way to travel. :)

See to me unless it was something like a top range lambo or other such supercar i wouldnt be bothered as it would just be something to get from point a to point b. As long as it did that and didnt look like a scrapyard piece i'd be happy.

And theres no need to spend thousands to get a car, surely you can get a decent one for just a few hundred??

Not sure how it works in the US value wise, but my Ibiza was only £470 which for a 99T was a good deal especially given how well looked after it was.

Usually in the US, a decent car can be anywhere from about 1000$ to 7 or 8000$.

A descent car for 1k?

Good luck with that.

Also getting in an accident (and not being hurt) in my current car might not be entirely bad, cause then it would make me HAVE to buy a new car, and I could get an integra typeR. low fuel usage, same power as my current car so i wont get frustrated at it being sluggish

But, I love my car and would never hurt it on purpose or sell it if i didnt absolutely have to.

My next door neighbor got a 98 GMC yukon. for 1k.

The only thing wrong with it was a bad alternater, and that cost him 100$.

but then again hes had the truck for about a year, and thats when he had to replace the alternator
