that he is but the others are just as good some better some worse but as a whole there all preety even in my eyes.

i'm suprised no one has said malmsteen yet though granted i don't think he's that good but his fans are rabid about him being the best ever.

DON'T TELL ME TO CHILL OUT or i'll take that walking stick and hit gary moore so hard he joins Gallagher in the grave then we'll see who's laughing.

Slash - I love the stuff he's done, just too good at bending.

Steve Vai - For the love of god is ridiculously good, his other stuff is equally brilliant

Joe Satriani - He writes good "fun" music none of which is easy either

Eric Johnson - I'm surprised no one's mentioned him yet, or I might have just missed it.

Jimi Hendrix - Beautiful music.

Randy Rhoads - I'm surprised no one mentioned him. He was damn good at playing the instrument, but he made good music rather than just play hard stuff, crazy train being an example.

These are the guitarists that inspire me to keep learning as well and in my books they're all legends :)

List in no specific order:
Jimi Hendrix - a real guitar magician..too many AWESOME songs to name, really..
Jimmy Page - stairway to heaven is really a stairway to heaven the way he plays it
Brian May - who doesn't love the Queen solos?
David Gilmour - lead ex-Pink Floyd guitarist, need I say more? Stuff like Comfortably Numb, Dogs, Another Brick in the Wall, it never gets old..never, ever..
Saul Hudson a.k.a. Slash - Sweet Child O' Mine, Civil War and November Rain tell it all.. A guitar MONSTER
Steve Vai - the way he plays stuff..just..beautiful
Joe Satriani - The guy knows how to play, really!
Vlatko Stefanovski - doubt anyone of you knows him as he's from ex Yugoslavia and don't know how much he concerts around the world but he's better than Vai and Satriani combined..There are a few songs on youtube and well..the style he has..it's unique..it's a must-hear for everyone that loves guitars (I suggest hearing this live performance - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5LJAGM_tVc it's an AWESOME one..the song is originally about 4 minutes long..in this 9 minutes version he just fools around, they're just improvising most of the song.. If you wanna hear more of his songs - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PASYe-Sr ... 37bp4NKRu1 they're mostly instrumental, although sometimes he does sing too..think a few of them are in English but if you're gonna hear his songs even if you don't understand the lyrics, believe me..you're gonna love it if you love real guitar riffs and solos)
Anthony Joseph "Joe" Perry - Dream On, Angel and other guitar masterpieces by Aerosmith..just awesome
Carlos Santana - the Jesus of guitar
Chuck Berry - Johnny B. Good along with his other rock n' roll beauties say it all
Keith Richards - lead guitarist of Rolling Stones since Brian Jones died in 1969, need I say more?
Robby Krieger - awesome riffs..The End, Break on through, Light My Fire,..awesome, simply awesome
Steve Morse - Child in time, Smoke On The Water are just 2 of the many Deep Purple awesome guitar songs
David Evans a.k.a. The Edge - I'll say just 2 letters..U2
Last but not least..Eric Clapton - gotta give guy the blues credit he deserves!

Think that about covers up (probably forgot one or two, but these are the main deal) the incredible guitar players.. Gotta love old rock music, when music actually meant something and had some meaning.. I'm just sad I haven't had the chance to see all of them live or in some cases just alive would be enough.. Must say I'm not a super-fan of all of them (though I am a big fan of most of them)..they are the elite
