Mmm... Jonathan, dunno if you're unascended or not...
If you ARE unascended, view Angnoch's story about name changes...
Otherwise, you should be fine. Because when you are ascended, the main ID and ascended ID are linked to each other. Name change on Main? Also changes in the spy logs on ascended. Once the link is established, it cannot (or should not be able to) be broken.
With regards,

Yeah, this exact same thing happened to a player called StarScream.
Do what Angnoch said. Just name change... and put a space at the end of your name or something? Or... you could go with Snuggle Slippers.

Well, in my opinion the code SHOULDN'T be using usernames to decide who is who, ever... It should use ID#s not any various other identifying traits because they WILL change... Jason went the wrong way when going this route... Because I don't have a name change on my account and my PPT is running out... And here I am trying to ascend... I had an old account I descended a while back and I cannot get it changed to save my life... Plus it would break the rules and be considered multying, and I don't want that...
NOTE FORE JASON:
Dude, use ID#s not names to identify different accounts, this is very frustrating and from a coding stand point looks like that part was done by a rookie coder...

yep which is what I stated in my first post... Cause Jason didn't do that everyone has to suffer... lol... I understand that when the account is being created its good to check but with an existing account its ridiculous...

Uh, yeah he does. It's why you see "id=xxxxxx" all over the forums.

The problem comes in when two of the same thing appear in a list of objects. I don't know the code like the back of my hand, but my guess is that he uses a list of user names somewhere in the code. Yes, the IDs are different, but depending on the type of list used (you can use different kinds of lists when you program), some lists won't allow multiple instances of the same object, in this case names. Plus, who wants to have to choose who they're gonna attack because two players have the same name?
My advice: don't change your name if you have any connection to it; you're most likely gonna go back to it later, and once someone takes it, too effin bad.
Btw, "rookie coding" consists of "hello world", a few math problems, and syntax errors. Not a fully fledged MMORPG. Don't talk like you know about programming when you don't.

I am a PHP Programmer by trade, I write and develop sites for a living. I also advise people on Web Structure and layout, so when you say I don't know anything about it well, you're wrong...
What is wrong with the situation is that it is checking the database for my name even though my ascended account is a different name... When you're already ascended it shouldn't be checking for the name, have it send a check for the id that's associated with that account... For example:
SELECT * FROM `AscendedUsers` WHERE `MainID` = '$_SESSION["id"]'
Now the first ascension would be a different situation, you would NEED to check for the name of whether or not it is already registered in the Ascended Realms. Because then we could end up with 15 of the same user names... That is what I was talking about, after the first one a name check is not needed...
I am just giving these as suggestions only right now, not trying to do anything else... I did want him to read it so it would help him improve the game... Plus the only time anything gets read by him is if he is not busy with anything else or if people throw a fit over a statement...

Syntax errors, actually that's quite amusing considering they pop up every so often in the game and last a few days at a time... But I am sure he does them on purpose to keep people from using a certain feature while he expands on something...

Heh....looks like I have some apologizing to do.
I've got some tough RL stuff happening, one of which is waiting to see if any of my relatives died in the earthquake in Italy a few days ago. I'm sorry for venting on you in that post.

I do agree with that. If someone is ascending for other than the first time, he/she is already in the Ascended server and shouldn't even be checked for that kind of thing.

It's a bit sad, but it's true. He does have a lot to go through.

Damn bro, I understand that... I will send you my MSN via PM, I think you would be someone interesting to talk to... And I hope you find out what happened with your parents, losing someone close, well it takes a piece of you, a piece you never get back... I had a woman that was like a second mother die a few years back while I was in another state studying... It hurts bad, I just hope that that isn't what you have to go through...

Good luck and I hope your relatives turn up just fine. I lost my Mother to cancer while I was deployed in Afghanistan in 2006 and 2007, so I'm with you on the long distance waiting. Again, hope everything turns out fine.
