Et voilá, an excellent summary of my reasons for saying:
No point to it.

Just because they aren't the main reason to the lag, doesn't mean there is no other reason to do it...what's the point in having extra 20-30k accounts that aren't played and will never be again, and which are not used by anyone as farms?
I'm really curious to know..
Not to mention, many of those accounts have names that could be used by active players, but instead active ones have to create names which don't look good because it was needed to add extra characters etc...and the accounts owning those names, aren't even being used! I know it doesn't say something to most here, but I know of people that got issues with name already taken by inactives.

so, ok, my original idea was: delete all accounts that was not logged in in the last 3 months without vacation. But I think very big amount of great farms would be gone .. means bad for the beginners. The "advanced" players can find the good active farms.. so no real problem for the older. But be honest, we need to support the beginner some way.
ps: i dont have problem with the lag

Jason has stated to me and i've posted it, that the accounts are NOT the problem, they are not ranked and etc..
I would just like to see the g/r become competitive again
That is more easily achieved by changing the parameters related to GnR rather as deleting Caesar -knows-how-many 'tiny' accounts.
Heh. Waste not, want not.

Well...the more it will wait, the more of those accounts there will be, and the least it will be possible to get rid of them. Those accounts are the main reason why I gave up raiding a while ago. Looking thru hundred of pages to find a decent target/500 accounts ratio.. >_<
Trying to scan page 1 to last page I don't know how long it would take but probably around 5 hours with someone being quite fast. Who would waste 5 hours looking thru that? Probably noone..
See my point? Going thru rank became impossible, proves there's something wrong, isn't it?

Agreed, but I also agree with cleaning up SGW some.

Signed.
No deleting inactive accounts though, regardless. The user might return so even if it is small, it shouldn't be deleted. I voted for vacation mode.

Agreed to the vac mode option. Vac mode accounts shouldn't negatively affect the lag, but will allow people a chance to still use accounts they may want to come back to, especially if they've actually used SS on their account before.

I voted keep them,
I think it's worth the challenge of scrolling through page after page of crappy accounts, in order to find that perfect raid. The shear number of pages that there are leaves a player to continue searching for the gold mine, because surely there are pages that people never visit

i say Put them in vacation...
only for this reason. you look at the vast number of players that are in the military, and suppose some of them created an account and then were deployed with no access to the server (whether it be due to firewall, or no internet access on deployment). one can feel offended if they come back and find what they were working on gone...
other wise, im all for it to cut the server load

a good point, but if Jason were to change what starting accounts got by a little bit, then if they just started over it wold benifit them more then keeping what they had
True. Im just going by what i would feel.

Well what about those who are in the military send an email to the admin for a special vacation one only given to those on deployment? Considering there might be a bunch load of emails to handle, maybe even a new mod spot be created only for them. But then again, it can and will be abused.
Just throwing this out there.

Its an idea. Just like you can suspend your insurance with a copy of deployment orders

Well as long as they are out of ranks it's ok for me. Even though most (98%) are totally unlikely to comeback, vacation is an option (thus being option in topic for the "yes" side).
