ATM Jason and the staff dont know how to fix the issue without doing risky stuff that we rather not. Seeing as this isnt a big flaw with major consequences we will leave it at this for now

Okay. I get that it's not serious. And I get that it's gonna cause problems to fix... but...
does anyone know how to make the box go away? you know. the one that sits at the top of the forums and says "Private Messages: 19 new messages". Cause I clicked, went to my inbox, seen the no new messages, and it won't go away. It's not super important. just annoying and uses up quite a bit of window when scrolling around the already way too long forum index page.
If there is no solution >.< I guess I can be okay with that. but really. Can't I just eat that box or something?

There is no way I know of to get rid of the box. Admins don't know how to fix it either.

The sync pm mod has been tried. There even was a update of the phpbb version. It still is not fixed. Fixing it might take a lot of effort with the risk of hurting the forums more. Therefor Jason nor the forum staff wants to risk it at this time.

Simple... have a scheduled downtime of forums... backup the whole place.... try the various fixes...if they work, all done... if they stuff the place up, restore from backup...

Indeed.. if need be, run the changes through a test server first before launching them here.

It *can* be done, except it would take *some* cooperation with Jason and *some* downtime. All that has to be done is to create a script that resets the PMs...

you guys still worrying about this bug? It doesn't really harm anybody, and you still tell if you have a new message or not when the "Private messages 19 new messages" thingy turns into 20 new messages.
