Even as, or perhaps even especially as, a creationist it would be rather foolish to believe that this is the only inhabited planet in the universe, as it would basically be saying that god created all the other planets and galaxies in vein and creationists are to believe that nothing was done in vein. Furthermore, it is also plausible to be both a creationist and believe that there exists a species with the capability to travel to and fro galaxies is a timely manner, as all it would require is the belief that is possible that there a exists a species in the universe that, throughout it's history, it was more concerned with scientific pursuits than religious/war.
After all, how many times have we humans reached a level of technology similar to that of the 1800s? Granted many of those past technologies were quite crude! But again, we were limited by our drive for conquest.

What happens in ten years?

I find myself asking the same question. I mean like, he just basically echoed my point, while trying to challenge mine argument.

While I dont know for sure if Aliens in the manner this subjects speak of exists. There appears to be not only mathematical evidence and scientific evidence that our phenomina may not be a exclusive thing. If you take a look at a man called Carl or Karl im not sure, Sagan who was a prominate astro-physist states that if you take into account just in the milky way there are millions of planets then in other universes there are trillions of billions of planets. In our defintion of life needs a rich carbon and H2o supply out of trillions of planets there maybe millions of planets able to sustain life, out of those millions maybe hundreds have some biological life eg plants ect, ect. So maybe the question is not are there aliens but when will there be an Alien life out there.
Plus while we may reach one day the speed of light nothing living in the universe can withstand the forces and heat from the speed so how can it help us if we are varorised.

Stop thinking inside the box.

Some people believe the Universe is alive in some way. If so, It would have some way to have it's inhabitants travel faster than light, whether through wormholes or some sort of other dimension. To test this theory, what the human imagination thinks up inevitably comes true. It's like our subconscious shows us the way and science has to follow..weird!

We should all think of teleportation a bit harder. I hate taking the bus.
On another note, I find it interesting that you're taking part in discussion in these dark parts of the forum, Rhett.
As concerns aliens, everyone thinks I'm one. I have, however, never abducted, anally probed or otherwise conducted any experiments upon human subjects that could, in any way, shape or form, be construed as unlawful by human standards.

yeah some of the stuff here is interesting enough to take part in. Perhaps this is the more mature section of the forum.
As for teleportation, I believe I was reading New Scientist a while back and they were talking about some sort of successful test of teleporting something miniscule. (the details escape me at the moment)

there was also a VERY small article in one of the tabloids about 10/12 years ago about a welsh scientist/inventor who had successfully built and tested a teleport system of some kind, i dismissed it as a tabloid joke at the time.

lulz
Personally, as awesome as teleportation would be, I have absolutely no desire to ever be teleported.

But he's right! Teleporters are nothing but glorified cloning devices, especially in the Star Trek universe!

like in the movie The Prestige. though that would mean that they'd have to have some way to kill off the clones

They'd vaporize them like in Star Trek, in the event that an incident like that in TNG occurs where there the original survives, they will just be tossed out an airlock like in The Outer Limits.
