I think there are probably two ways of looking at this: those who know its just a game, but play a lot because they enjoy it and want to "win"......and those that have probably been in that mindset too long and have blurred the realms between what is actually important.....

And its not necessarily those who are most active that take it too seriously....some very active people know its just a game, just for laughs, they simply play it a lot instead of other PC/xbox/whatever games.....whereas someone who rarely logs in but gets massed will occasionally go absolutely berserk as if its the end of the world.....I have no problem with people spending hours online, so long as at the end of the day, they realise they aren't really a mass genocidal murderer

Colton I too am guilty of telling my friends "hang on I need to bank".

LOL that is one of the funniest SGW stories I have ever heard in 3 years.

But the most serious/unfunny players had to be the top 10 desperately trying to cling to the pointy end on ascended when things got turned upside down in '07. The diatribes and abuse that were hurled around in buckets at Forum and at anyone who wanted change were surely a sign that people had forgotten it's just a game.

sure way to tell if some one taking this to serious was what some one near and dear to me said once to me about some one in the game:

"they take sgw to be so important they take screen shots of there bowel movements just to show it better than there body elses"

The people I pity are those who forget that we are supposed to be here for fun and see it as necessary to throw around with insults and are arrogant enough to presume they can judge their opponents.

Anybody who threatens other players with RL physical harm because of their in-game actions.

I've always enjoyed fighting with enemies and then u realise that u can be friends with these guys..that's what a social game is all about.

What amuses me the most is how people judge others when they have no clue what truly goes on.

This game really matters for my life! I have even stood up Jordan Sullivan on a datenight recently. While she flew all the way to my city, I didn't bother to check the airport and she flew back again. Reason? I was here. Playing SGW.

Did Jordan get you back for that?

when someone is massing you, you logg off, log back on 3hrs later and they are still massing you... then you check your inbox and have 3 messages of petty insults from this person, so you go to write a message back and find you are blocked.

that is taking sgw too seriously, looking at you lithium.

This is a tough topic because I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone that hasn't at some point in time taken this game too seriously.... I myself took it seriously for many years and on occasion still take it too seriously some times

When I brought back EPA one thing I promised myself was to not take things too seriously. If it wasn't for people taking the game seriously, we'd not have any of the game politics and then where would we be? Bored off our faces staring at a bunch of numbers on a screen... that's where!

When you start calling your RL family and friends by the SGW name and not there real names. Done that a few times.

Well, I was introduced to the game by my Son in law. There were 7 of them playing from the uni they attended. He had a cook out over at his house and they all came. When he introduced me to them he used all our SGW names.

If u find yourself adjusting your schedule so that you can get onto sgw in time.
