In full, I thought it was a good film. It was really entertaining. There were a few flaws though...
Firstly of course if the massive demeaning of Megatron who easily went 1v1 with optimus in the first film and wooped his ass. Thrown into a lesser role, it was a shame to see a well built villain 'damaged' as such.
Second is the ending with Starscream and Megatron. In what Transformers world.. would Starscream help a near enough mortally wounded Megatron get up, let a lone escape and survive?
finally.. I felt that final fight near the pyramids could have been better. It seems they tried too much to show everything that was going on, rather than focusing on what could have been a truly epic scene.
I would say better than the terminator film (which was totally awesome too..), but overall they have really left a lot of room for Harry Potter to steal blockbuster of the summer as far as the actual film itself goes.
Perhaps they may rope enough wide eyed idiots in to pull it off.. or HP may not be just not that good at all!
I say! Role on Avatar!

I have my own spoiler in here....
I haven't seen the movie, but I heard about the minor outrage about a couple of characters. Two hatchback brothers that were designed to add comic relief but seemed to poke fun at Afro persons about not being able to read, slang, and some other things.
What did you all think of the characters and the issues surrounding it? Too much?
Optimus is a Prime, The most powerful of his kind, Megatron is just a pawn in the greater sceme, I think micheal bay actually read about transformers this time around, Cos everyone knows megatron cant stand toe to toe with optimus, he always had to have someone (usually starscream backing him up) . I thin thats why the 3 on 1 fight was good for me, it was real (well as real as transformers can get...*Misty eyed*) .
I think the next film starscream turns on megatron (as he does originally) so they wanted to make him look like they didnt get along, But also that starscream is loyal to megatron, So at the end he escapes with him. Thats the conclusion i get from the whole "Starscream megatron" thing they had going on. I basically think this film was more of a homage than the original, With the inclusion of Jetfire it has a better transformersy feel, With the "twins" Takeing the place of the tapes, and so on.
Yes, I used to watch transformers and know wayyy too much... get over it

Yeah it was pretty good aye, good old optimus putting on the smack down on the 3 on 1

And does make sense that megatron wasnt as great.. he was put together from scrap pieces (that was funny while they did it.. bit of betrayal

)
On the avatar note... with the castings as they are.. well... not much hope..

That may be the case in the original but Bay and the berg re-created and re-envisioned the franchise creating 'rules' so to speak. I hate it when they go and break these rules...
Aside from the bits of the cube, and the fact Megatron was at the bottom of the Ocean this film pretty much forgot the first existed.
Plus I love villains and have always liked Megatron. I don't like em being demoted so to speak. It always annoyed me when you got those Star War's noobs who did not realise Luke only beat Vader because he could not kill his only son.

If your that offended then i fear youve taken the film slightly too seriously, It is a light hearted remake of the original thing...So naturally, Autobots being good win...

lol... no. I am just a mediocre amateur film critic. I always pick even the best films to pieces - including my favourite bunch SW and V for Vendetta.
In this instance, they surrendered their original rules to buffer the second films story line surrounding two of the more pivotal characters. Sometimes, and very often this does indeed happen, but not in such a direct way if you get my meaning. They may introduce a new tech or something to make it possible, but not just change it. On top of that, I do dislike it when people do that...
I think the film could have - WOULD HAVE been better had they obeyed their original rules more. We all loved Optimus kicking the crap outta 3 decepticons, but that scene contradicts the first film's ending. I ask the necessity of having Megatron there at all? Starscream would have easily sufficed with two unnamed Decepticons. Megatron arrives at the end and kicks Prime like he did at the end of the first film. Vwallah! Obeyed their original rules with the same outcome.
It's the same in SW with Dooku. Was there any need to make him actually a Sith? I reckon the character could have been more interesting had they just left him a grey jedi.
I am just expressing opinion. Don't make the mistake of making it personal to the point I am sitting here frustrated cursing the film. I loved the film.

I have but one question for all of you who have watched both movies.
Why is it in the first movie the Autobots saw Megatron and were like "OMG MEGATRON! RUN!"
And now, in this movie, they are like.. "OMG! MEGATRON! CHARGE!!!!!!!!!!!"?

Well, thats not entirely true, After Optimus dies, they where like OMG run, Then all the time after that they where like OMG CHARGE! I assume they just decided that they had to make there stands as apposed to chooseing there battles, Cos they needed a prime, And the only way to ressurect optimus was to fight.
Although i wasnt impressed with bumblebee, he is meant to be very courageous, but not THAT hard, whereas, In that film, They turn him into some sort of elitedoublehardAutobotdude. Optimus was Forever saveing bumblebee! Now it seems bumblebee has turned into a prime
ALSO, his voice was fixed at the end of the first film, And wasnt working in this one again.... WHATS THAT ABOUT?!
And SHEESH semper, i wasnt makeing it personal, i was just defending the film
