Sammael calling CoD4: MW2 Call of Duty 6 brings up a point I wish to clarify, or rather ask about, since everyone says something different.
Okay CoD4: Modern Warfare was Call of Duty 4, but Call of Duty: World at War IS NOT CoD5, correct, since Infinity Ward didn't make it? So that would technically make CoD4: MW2 Call of Duty 5, or is it just an expansion of CoD4 and so still CoD4...? Making CoD: WaW just that, CoD: WaW.
It's confuuuuusing! Someone just call me an idiot then explain it to me... Is WaW CoD5, or isn't it?

Im opinion is its still CoD5 it has call of duty on the box and t the 5th one out so i call CoD5.
I Googled

yes Googled CoD5 and it comes up first link as callofduty.com there offciel site so if they call it CoD 5 then i will too.

I suppose, but most were expansions on the original ones or re-releases - no?

as far as im aware, World At War *IS* CoD5 (despite various reiterations of the CoD franchise so far, 8 or so was it jack? ive never paid much attention.
HOWEVER Modern Warfare 2 IS NOT in the CoD series, though it is branching off with some of the IP from CoD4:MW, as im aware it uses some existing IP from the CoD franchise but branches off on its own. might be interesting to see where infinity ward take this one.
disclaimer: "as im aware" is from my observations, i could be wrong, so im not stating it as fact..... (hence my "as im aware"... lol)

I thought the story line consisted of some crazy dude that the other guy in Modern Warfare 2 controlled was now free to do as he pleased since we killed off the only guy controlling him or something weird like that.

My disk is busted too, but I figured out something that helped me, so perhaps it'll help you too. My xbox chopped up my cod4 disk so it has a huge circular scratch on it, it doesn't get recognized half the time and whatever else.. But all I did was borrow a different cod4 disk from a friend and downloaded it onto my 360 HD. The disk is in good enough condition for the key on it to be recognized on startup so I didn't need to buy another

Wikipedia wrote:Modern Warfare 2 is set several years after the conclusion of Call of Duty 4. Sergeant "Soap" MacTavish will return as a non-playable character, and has been promoted to captain in the Special Air Service. MacTavish will lead an elite, multinational commando unit, Task Force 141, to counter the resurgent Russian Ultranationalist organization. The group is now led by Vladimir Makarov, a former associate of Imran Zakhaev with his own nationalistic ambitions. Makarov has been portraying Zakhaev's death as an act of martyrdom to garner support for his cause, and has built a strong power base in Russia over the years. In response to the threat posed by Makarov, the global community established Task Force 141 to stop him. The player will take on the role of Task Force member Sgt. Gary "Roach" Sanderson. Mission settings include the mountains of Russia, a desert in Afghanistan, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Depends. What difficulty do you play on and do you try for Achievements?
I play Veteran, no matter what while trying for achievements as I move through. Veteran was a beast of a game for World at War, I had to actually use cover to dodge bullets. CoD4? Not so much..
