Well, I'm so happy that this posting has served it's purpose. Not only has it brought tab-farming out of the shadows, it's even gotten some of the most accomplished tab-farmers to share some of their secrets, effectively leveling the playing field for those unfamiliar, assuming they are dedicated enough to investigate and learn.
Once again, the responses ran the gamut, but it's good to see s1eepy take it to that logical conclusion. It doesn't have to be ugly, it's a game afterall. Why not compete on this new level with a pair of categories: most hits in a minute (tabbing not with macros) and highest average hit with minimum # of hits/minute.
Then there's the last point that I would like to make. We've seen in Origins how a game can die a fast death due to apathy in the presence of a ruthless 'elite.' But tab farming in Q is not an immutable advantage as some have been sure to point out. I will elaborate.
One tab-farming challenge is that it does indeed take some time to set up, as well as requiring dexterity to work effectively. And a vulnerability is the potential for wasting ATs, which can happen for multiple reasons. Ineffectiveness, as I've mentioned, or the equalizer, as I call it, is another.
For those experienced players who would rub their expertise in your newbie face, you can always play a little trick -just- before the turn, as I did for this not too bright guy who insisted on turn farming me, despite being a member of my alliance and being asked to stop.

Real funny thing about the 144 wasted ATs listed below, is that was the second turn in a row you fell for the same trick. Back-to-back turns of wasted ATs. Yeah, you're waaaaay smarter and more experienced than me, a silly newbie. But I do know how to sab your attack away just before the turn, so that when you start furiously pressing those buttons, you won't have time to notice that all you're doing is wasting ATs. But hey, maybe I just don't know who I'm dealing with.
And I will acknowledge that Akhal, whom some think I have a personal vendetta against, is FAR more efficient at the use of multiple windows than I am. He is extremely skilled. The idea that I don't like him is ridiculous, since I don't even know him. I do dislike his behavior and relentless desire to achieve advantages over the newer players and even his alliance mates.
That's what I think distinguishes Kikaz from Akhal. Kikaz tutored me early on, and some posts here show this quality of his. It's just a shame that he can't separate the game from his friendships. Good friends would appreciate you giving them your best, so long as you played honorably.
