You're probably right.
But I wouldn't classify humanity as a disease or a virus. Claiming that one can "die from it" implies that, rather than being a human - life - acting as the cause of death, that it is external human forces - other people - that are the cause of death. I can safely say that human-facilitated fatality (murder, execution, war casualties) makes up a very small percentage of deaths.

gerbil you think small minded think what does a disease do .....

its destroys the human body tries to kill it. we humans kill our self kill each other and more importantly this planet the thing we need most we are killing it everyday we burn fossil fuels everyday we kill the planet and in turn our self.

do you wont to know the total of deaths caused by our own hands and mind you this is just wars and not crimes such as murder, execution and suicide.
To total deaths because of war because of humans and this mite not be accurate it could be more is . . . . .
[spoiler]
258,054,442 - 425,400,000
that is roughly around 6% of the world population

That figure is historically-cumulative, but your proportion is 6% of the world's
current population. It is likely to be closer to 0.6% of all humans that have ever existed.
I still don't see how you can define humanity as a disease. Looking at the definition you provided: humanity is not an abnormal condition, does not primarily impair function, and does not act as - and is not caused by - an invading organism or internal dysfunction. Given, humanity as a group of carriers can facilitate the spread of other diseases. But claiming, therefore, that it is a disease is a form of Slippery Slope Fallacy. For example, I will assume that Winter is both a disease and a virus, because climatic conditions commonly present during colder months facilitate the spread of both the common cold and the influenza virus.
I like a good debate. But could you please not accuse me of being small minded.
Cheers,
GG

Gotta say, if that's all "humanity" has killed then it isn't remotely close to the world's biggest killer.....over 7mil people die from heart disease, 5mil from strokes, every year. Those figures top any number of annual murder/manslaughter/genocide, except for the world wars.
Spanish Flu.....50mil dead in one year.
Black Death.....up to 66% of Europe's population dead in two years.....
Sorry, but nature still wins the top trumps game. Nuke China, then you'll have some numbers to compare

O.m.g.. haven't I said that ages ago.

the Glorious Jetfire wrote:"My father was a wheel! The first wheel! And do you know what he transformed into? Nothing! But he did so with honor!"
Why does everyone try to invent my father each time..

That's just.. inefficient. People. One should boil them and eat them, what other use do they have.

Yes, hence the structure of my reply. After the responses, I facepalm'd and said "forget it."

sorry to go off topic here (maybe a split is in order?), but i wish people would STOP saying carbon (fossil fuels), is killing the planet, stupidity is killing the planet by banning carbon from the environment...
people seem to have forgotten that we are carbon based life forms and that the plants and trees of this carbon based world NEED and BREATH carbon and give us oxygen in return, more carbon means more oxygen!
i cant remember where i read it (desperately trying to find it for the past 2 days), a scientific study has been done by some of the worlds top scientists looking into the ideal plant and tree carbon levels. carbon levels in the air have to be between 1200 and 1500 parts per million, and at the moment we have a carbon level of 385 parts per million, their conclusions stated that plants and trees are malnourished...
but hey, don't take my word for it...carry on believing that the stuff plants and trees breath is bad for the environment and the planet, maybe they are right when they say having babies is bad for the planet, maybe we should all kill ourselves, that will solve the climate (fraud) problem once and for all!

gerbil you say more carbon more oxygen um in a state but too much carbon is very bad for the environment did you know if you had enough planets in your room with no windows or doors open they will take your oxygen and turn it in to carbon dioxide and you can suffocate.
Also have you watched a film called the day after tomorrow my favourite film, anyway to much carbon will increase the heat of the planet which will melt the polar ice cap (the lagerest area of fresh water) which will out balance the sea water (salt water) and out balance the NAC (North Atlantic Current) next thing you know there will be know summer all ways cold it will be the next ice age because the heat from the equator which heats the sea, will not be carried north so the northern hemisphere and we will fall in to the next ice age the last one was about, 2.4 billion years ago and we have had 4 in total and heading for a 5th which would be good in my opinion this planets is heading down we are sucking it dry next we will be fighting over resources wait we already are.
We are the cause to this one tho nothing else the first few ice ages where caused by high rate of volcanic activity the others i do not know but our 5th one will be our fault.

I said nothing about carbon whatsoever. My argument pertains to your shaky assumption that humanity is a disease. Something I feel you have not addressed.
