I've noticed the 38 pages in the 'General' section of the forums don't receive these "prunings"

Have you taken a look at a few of the threads in the GC? From what I've seen, half the posts in there are just people venting hate at some player/alliance/empire..
Clarkey wrote:The other day I was in there and 1 person had made multiple threads of the same thing.
I do agree that it gets stupid at a point. Might be able to fix that by making the spam temple not count towards post count, but I highly doubt people would like that

They should. Good threads can end up in the Archives, it's what they're for.
However, while I agree.. Temple is spam. General generally is not.

Can hardly account for taste.. at least General is game-related.. Temple is spam.

And you say nuking kills the Temple? Not having Temple count towards post count would eliminate one of, if not the only, reason most people have to spam at all.
This debate is funny now. It has been.. mildly useful.

I'm glad I was of some entertainment value to you
As for people that only spam for post count; that shouldn't be the main motive for spam if you ask me.. Honestly, if everyone's post count magically disappeared at this very moment, I wouldn't care
I wouldn't care because it's not about how many posts you can "obtain", but the thought put into your posts. Hence why I wouldn't mind if the temple didn't count towards post count.. but it doesn't mean that I would agree to something like that being done, since some people care mildly about their count, and it would probably push many more away from the temple. Nor does it mean I'm against it, though.. It would probably make it a better place considering people would only be posting for fun, instead of being post count driven.. I guess I'm neutral in that regard

nah. there should be also random nukings in every other section of the forums. this is the goal worthy of my support.

as per my usual I will address the issues set forth here......
for starters I am very sorry that the "spammers" feel slighted by this latest "nuking" but as I have stated before this was not done to upset anyone or make anyone feel slighted because a "favorite" thread was moved, the thread in question while arguably an impressive thread was one of a very few amount of decent and worthwhile ACTIVE threads in the temple. That being said the "nuking" was done this time to allow a certain creativity to people and ultimately show who the people were that could handle spamming....
Prime Example being Usul minutes after the nuking he had multiple threads going and already started rebuilding the temple which is what a spammer is supposed to do after a nuking it.
This call for limits on nuking are totally unnecessary as it is the mods discretion when a pruning needs to happen in their specific section.
If the spammers had asked me to move the thread back no matter how nicely phrased they did it, I would not nor will I move it back to the temple, if anything you can ask me to move it to precious moments where it belongs now that the temple has undergone summer cleaning.
I did not move it there because quite frankly I "nuked" the temple and could not be bothered moving the thread there because I did not think it was worth it however I have been proven wrong apparently by the show of "spammers" that want it there.......
I am not going to call you spammers whiners because quite frankly I think that is an insult to all of you you are simply doing what you think is best however misguided an attempt it may be it is your right to post your feelings and thoughts.

aye. that's a good reason to do it. it'd be fun.

well I hated all the nukings that happened earlier this year.. some good spammers never did come back

However I was please to see the latest one,
A suggestion.. a minimum of charactors before a post can be submitted.. to cut down on the post after post of just smilies.
Is there an auto prune option available?

lol that's because the General section is generally ingame related stuff. Yes some stuff may be in there that shouldn't but that's life. But bottom line is, the General section has 38 pages of stuff because it is ingame related topics, and this forum is here because of THE GAME.

the auto-prune function is forbidden by Jason... and it deletes, not moves...

Clarkey although the forum is here because of "THE GAME" it is clearly here for the games COMMUNITY... and therefor it is here for the use of the community to addresse the needs that they have... so be it if it is spam eh?

I wondered how long it would be before you start picking holes at other areas of the forum, because clearly your argument is not strong enough to support it's own, therefore you need to pick at other areas to provide that much needed leverage/support for the argument.
I don't think it's the mods that you should be talking to about limiting the frequency of the "nukes". You should be speaking to the people that go beyond just making fun and laughable spam in the Temple, to those that make rediculously stupid threads one after the other of something that is the same and not at all funny or interesting.
Take the Temple now for example. There are multiple threads post one after the other.....
First thread is titled '1', contents of opening post '1'.
Second thread is titled '2', content of opening post '2'.
Third thread is titled '3', content of opening post '3'.
Fourth thread is titled '4', content of opening post '4'.
I think you get my drift. I mean, that's not proper spam, that's just stupidity. It provides no fun, no laughter, just mess. Multiple thread like that in the Temple happen way too often, and general by the same group of few people. I wouldn't be surprised if they are 90% of the reason the nukes may seem to be more frequent than you would like. Maybe you should speak to those people about this issue because they are likely the root cause of it.
I may be wrong, but I would bet they are the main reason for it. Spam is meant to be fun, somewhere you can go and laugh at silly things. Please tell me what is funny about multiple threads like that? After a page of threads like that it's not surprising a nuke is detonated.

So players have a "need" to make rather stupid multiple threads as mentioned above?
If so then I advise stretching legs once in a while and taking a walk.

I don't think its your place at all to dictate how people decide to spend there time or to suggest how they do so

Dictate: order: issue commands or orders for.....
I "advised" streching of legs. I did not dicate anything to anyone.
