I want to be the guy who builds the first FTL engine, I like to mentally design energy weapons, and I sometimes wonder if I'm the same species as other people(they think funny)...I'm fairly certain that lands me squarely in the nerd category...

I can't speak for Psi, but when I research stuff like that I get into serious text book stuff. The kinda stuff that'll make smoke come out of little kids ears, just like in those old cartoons.
