I dont know why people argue against this, if you want to smoke go ahead, but remember there is people around you that may not smoke or like any sort of smoke near them.
Why should they have there meal ruined just because someone wants to smoke inside, take a minute and step outside for that, not going to kill you to do that (the cigarette might).
It is working quite well in Ireland i must say, i likes bars alot more now, i want a smoke free pint and be able to see the tv, and dont forget about the people that have to work in those places, why should the be subjected to second hand smoking at all hours of the day?

If someone is intent on destroying their lungs and mine by being close to me while they destroy theirs, I can help them with a sharp object.
It's only an offer. I mean, they're working hard on impairing their breathing organs. Call me if you want to learn a more efficient way...

No HAS to go to a smoking bar, no one HAS to work in one. No one is forcing you to do anything you don't want to, so why force others? What makes you so special that you're so much more than a smoker? Pretty damned arrogant if you ask me.
Arrogant? please explain why people who want to sit in a bar and smoke and poison themselves should mean non smokers have to stay at home or not go for a pint, screw that, and as its shown in Ireland, it has cut what alot of people smoke down and have got others to try and quit and especially the huge tax we keep putting on them.
Also no one HAS to smoke

Arrogance? Smoking is a want, whereas breathing is a need. No smoker HAS to go to a bar to smoke, either. What kind of arrogance would warrant one emitting toxic gases in an environment full of potentially innocent lungs?
If an establishment is registered as a smoker's club, the scenario is different, as smoking is the primary activity and so the lungs attracted to that sort of establishment are not likely to be innocent. Rather, they are likely to be black, gross and sinful lungs. ;p
One's weakness in fighting a self-created addiction that not only damages their own health, but also that of those in their immediate environment, does not justify allowing others to be endangered by the toxic substances that they are emitting. When dealing with toxic, gaseous substances, it is the responsibility of the one emitting them to ensure that nobody will be hurt by them. This should apply to pollution as well, seeing as we have the technology to have cars that do not depend on fossil fuels, yet that technology is being suppressed by those who benefit from the sale of such fuel. Addiction to money?
Arrogance. That's arrogance.

You forget the number of people who just use bars to pick up women...
Also, as far as I know, alcohol in small amounts causes no irreparable damage. I *could* be wrong, of course, and I haven't specified how small an amount must be to be considered small, as I have no personal experience with alcohol.
Plus, one normally has to pay at a bar, if they wish to destroy their liver. They do not destroy their liver simply by being there. Likewise, one ought not have to destroy their lungs simply by being there. Furthermore, destroying one's liver is no justification for destroying one's lungs as well. It's like saying that because a necessarily successful mass-murdering maniac with many minions has killed everyone in Alabama, he might as well kill everyone in Texas, too. And he'd have psychic bullet deflecting powers, so you can't just shoot him, Jack.

Just like you can't shoot cigarette smoke, although you can admittedly shoot smokers.

well out where im stayin smoke law are gettin worse and worse. I smoke most of them dont bother me cause i do agree with them for the most part.
Like smoking at restants, i understand i smoke and i dont like to deal with smoker around me while eating. Now the laws around me pretty much banns smokeing yet i dont have a problem with it, now at work.... ok i go out side on my break which i always did anyway. now come in july of 10 we are no longer able to smoke in pubs.....Where is it goin to stop. 95% of poeple goes to the pubs in my area to drink and have a smoke. Now thats hurting the little man running the bar. which i realy belive it should be upon the owner.
Now with no smoking in pub i guess there a loop hole in that where they make a it private bar and you have to pay memberships to smoke there which is another reason for tax's. we already get taxed egough for smoking why do it more. Last year i was payin 1.20$ a pack a smoke which now the cost has double and proly triple (havnt look at today price's) cause we just did another tax on them.
quick edit: most people wont go to the bars in the winter time where i live cause who the hell want to smoke a cigg in sub zero weather just to drink a beer
