same can be said to you McRandom. You are responsible for what you post, image, text or whatever. if it's a screenshot or not doesnt enter into it at all.

McRandom wrote:And your point? I was posting evidence to something. Which is perfectly fine to do. And that single missing letter is there so as not to insult too much and soften its meaning.

And on a side note :P, the word is something that describes a cat so isn't exactly inappropriate.
if you were to post in text what was in the image you would be warned. there is no difference, screenshot or not.

also if you want to make such ridiculous claims as mods playing favourites, back it up with proof. if you're too lazy to find proof, dont bring it up. it doesnt serve anyone any good. also if there are mods posting content that should be edited out, REPORT FUNCTION.

it's not rocket science, really.

Re: Warning received for masking a while back

okey:

Mc, you should eb aware that posting pics that contain a word that bypasses the wordfilter is masking. next tiem edit it in paint it works rather well and do it pretty slopy so everyone knows that part was edited but make sure it can't be read.

but with that said:
given Mc's long and clean history and the fact that it was an honest mistake i would opt for a verbal warning. it's not like he's a user that causses trouble on a regular basis and he will learn his leson with a verbal warning just as good as with a regular one.

unless mods completly disagree i would take it like that to the admins. if mods disagree they can always give a killer argument to win it in their favour

Re: Warning received for masking a while back

Verbal warnings are issued at the discretion of the mod in question. There is no rule saying we have to give them, as well as no rule saying we don't. It's up to the judgement of the mod in question. The ombudsman has no place telling people that a warning should or shouldn't have been verbal.

Re: Warning received for masking a while back

Well fair enough, Zeek. Nobody has ever said that you're not allowed to have an opinion, or to hypothetically put yourself in a mod's shoes. I understand that doing might also help you see things from different perspectives. I hope you can appreciate how making statements like that about verbal warnings might confuse the mods, though, as indeed it has done. Maybe if they were more distinct from your actual rulings.

My main point of all of this, is that there needs to be certain guidelines on what the mods give people warnings on. Such as, for certain things posted shouldnt require a full warning. Something like mine, should be a verble warning as you said. And if I did it again a full one, but not just a warning right off the bat.

The mods should edit the post and saying a verbal warning and give ideas on how to re-post it such as you said to edit out that specific word. But then again with the way these mods are going they will claim that masking as well!

The rules are being pushed and the whole masking thing is just getting out of hand.

You should know the rules. I gave you the warning and i'd do it again.

half the mods are unsure of the masking rules and the other half make it up as they go
thishas been clearly shown in the other threads

But you cant have the mods give everyone verbal warnings and they cant go editing everyones post then exsplaining everything it would take to long instead you could just go read the rules bro

Re: Warning received for masking a while back

Is it really? Mods clearly pick favorites. They need to have some standards that they need to stick too. Everyone equity treated. Posts get overlooked, or if someone has a grudge or a friend, warned more harshly than others. The whole system needs to be revised in my opinion.

Re: Warning received for masking a while back

my issue started when i was warned, and i have been watching it since then because the backwardness of the way u enforce "rules"

(unwritten rules in some case i might add, so kinda hard to reference them to know them, ya ?)

and now when we ( myself and a few other who have begun to clearly see this) begin pointing out "masking " , we are told that there are exceptions (unwritten i might add)

so knowing the rules ? "Ahh k ya" as Peter Griften might say on family guy

that what we are saying,
when it comes to masking this uneven treatment means reading the forum is like learning to drive on the autobuan, and then being put on the secondary streets to receive a tickets cause u didn't know there was a speed limit

standards set
written out clearly
posted
no subjectivity about them

don't u think it would make your job easy as pie ?

I would personally like to know what you're talking about? There is masking on the Forums that isn't modded? If so, report it. If it's not dealt with but you still believe it's masking, talk to the Mod in question. If after that you still have a problem, make a thread in Mod Feedback section. If you're still in the minority on the subject, then it's probably because you're wrong.

@this thread: Clearly masking. Mod's prerogative to give a Verbal or Official warning, I prefer verbals most of the time (unless a previous verbal or official) but that's just me...
