I wasn't calling you paranoid, I was calling the people that want that crap paranoid.

my bad :-)

@KF, i was listening to a doctor at what he had to say about the damage these machines cause, and he said that they damage the DNA at the cellular level which will cause all sorts of problems but especially skin cancers.

i'll post more about that when i have more detail because i havent had a chance yet to research what he's talking about.

on a side note just picking up the sunbathing comment, did you know we get Vitamin D from the sun?

i agree that over exposure to the sun isnt healthy (obviously), but some doctors recommend we get a minimum of 15 mins a day exposure (if weather permits lol) to the sun.

I have 2 thoughts:

a) I thank Manitou I live on the continent and

b) score one for the terrorists, again. All they have to do is stick a firecracker in their undies, the rest we`ll do ourselves, fear & alteration of way of life + giving up liberties included. Yay for security.

This whole mess would be hillarious if it didnt add up to a finger up my tooshie if I want to travel.

you know, its funny how 1 terrorist a few days ago triggers enough hysteria for the scanner manufactures to build and have these machines ready for installation in RECORD time...

we could have used some of that magic when we was building the new Wembley stadium lol

i know mate, but the point being (maybe i didn't make myself understood? my bad.) that its amazing how they always have the solution to any given crises within hours/days....PRS (problem, reaction, solution), its always their solution...i'm sick of "their" solutions!

the US has also been using them on males in Iraq i believe...possibly trial testing them?!

sunblock actually filters out the vitamin D, that's not to say we all go out unprotected, i have a fair skinned son, so...

as for the affects of the scanners, at the moment i cant argue with you because i dont have anything concrete, but from what the "experts" are saying, these things are not healthy at all.

I had the pleasure of flying via Amsterdam where they ise body scanners on all intercontinental flights ... it is either going though the body scan or not being permitted to enter the plane. Simple as that.

The public discussion is just pure populism - whether you want them or not, it does not matter as the body scanners are already in use.

just because they are using them doesn't make it right mate.

if its wrong it should be opposed, simple as that!

*grin* Maybe not.. but that's another debate. There's no way you're getting on a plane without going through them, and if you don't want to go through them, don't try to get on a plane. How complicated is that?

I'll leave the opposing things to you, and have a great holiday in Jaipur later this year.

I asked the security staff on the Amsterdam Airport, what would happen if I refused to go through body scan because of religious reasons. I asked them if I could not be manually searched the old fashioned way instead.

The answer was a definitive no.

Refusing to go through body scan would cause you not being allowed to board the plane.

Verbally protesting is fine and I am sure most would do it. But if the price is to miss your plane and not being able to go on your vacation or business trip that I doubt many would protest by actually taking action. Sad but true.

then i refuse to fly.

if they want to pretend its for my own protection then i'll go along with their games and let them body search me, but i refuse to go through the scanners, and if that means i cant fly then so be it.

You're letting yourself be restricted in your movement? Tssk.. adapt and prosper, old friend. Adapt and prosper.
