do you plan on going into the military later in ur life for that reason?

no, I know from what ive seen that I'm incapable, which is part of why I have such an immense respect for military personnel.

(my father joined the AF at 17, and in short order was posted interstate, etc, Im nowhere near independant enough. if I was more independant then i'd consider joining the AF but..... yeah.)

Did my stint with air defense for the Australian armed forces... most uneventful time. Won't say i risked my neck for my country, but i guess if we were invaded i would of had too.

much respect for those that do the hard yards, can't say i was one of them, was more like a day job.

Well I respect people for their bravery for going to war (I really do) and for being durable enough to get into the forces but on the other hand I find the armed forces are annoyingly barbaric (encouraging people to surrender their lives for a country? Very rare today are people asked to give that up actually for their country or someone they love but instead for the pitiful struggles of the political tyrants).

Alas, good luck and hope you pass and have a fruitful career.

Thanks Locke, that test was easy until I got to the automechanic, mechanical machines, and some of the electrical stuff.

Semper: Understandable. I've always wanted to serve since as far back as I can remember. Guess it was all the war movies, my family, the army men I played with, and stuff that was in my life that influenced it.

all the Marines I've had the pleasure of knowing have been great guys & funny as hell - I'd gladly have one watching my 6; just remember, TM, that if you do get into the Marines, your arse really is Navy equipment

The Marine corp is...undescribeable. When I as going to the University of South Carolina last year I did Navy NROTC. The Navy and Marine NROTC was combined and there were active duty sailors and marnes in the program also.

For our freshman orientation me and the rest of the freshmen got to spend a week at fort jackson for a washed down version of bootcamp led by 4 MECEPs and our AMOI who used to be a drill instructor for the marine corps. Only thing they couldn't do was hit us. Even tho it was a week instead of the 13 weeks Marines spend in bootcamp I can honestly say that was the most intense thing I've ever done in my life. More intense than football and wrestling put together.

But it was something I'll never forget. Kinda fun looking back at it.

Anyways, just talked to my recruiter and I scored a 88 on my ASVAB and he's gonna check if my score is high enough to take the nuclear power test. I'm pretty pumped about it.
