I'd like to see Jason partition MGM to put it back the way it was. And just offer a franchisee fee.

Heck, i don't care even if he had to put a disclaimer saying "This is NOT Stargate Worlds, that site is HERE. This game is a MMORPG Based of the StarGate franchise"

:(

thats an interesting concept, sarevok... we like it... you could try suggesting it to Jason...

Indeed.

I'll give it a go. But i can only go to the evening meet (lest i stay up till 4am my time  )

I might add a poll later, I just need to think on which options to put, because it's easy to confuse with "do you still consider it to be stargatewars?" (meaning= stargatewars was cool, this current one isn't, etc...), which is NOT the subject.
It's NOT another thread about how this game lost members, how admin is inactive etc...it's just whether you still consider it to be stargate based, or not. Nobody denies fact admin changed it to MGM request, but it's not about it either. :) It's about how you feel about it, if you keep roleplay/act stargateish or plan to, or even just think stargate when you play it.

just because MGM said change the names, does not mean it isn't stargate based ;)

Based, yeh i guess. Feel, defiantly not.

For AdminJ to not be sued for using the name "SGW", the game would have to be completely non-profit, something which I would imagine, AdminJ would never do.

even if it was petitioned now it would be too late
name changed and custom races would still be there o it still wouldn't be back to sgw

what should of happened was adminJ got the whole sever to spam the mgm e-mails and basically have us all as a united front to at least try and keep it as it was and maybe just maybe we would have kept the name

it bugs me that you now have races like Na'Vi that have come out of the mos recent epic film

did they even get it running i know the beta was round but the actual game was meant to come out 2009

MGM suck anyway back in like 06/07 a SG game was meant to be released but they fell out with the other party involved and well rigt near the end it was scrapped

Not true, if you read what i wrote.

Give them a "franchisee fee" for using the name StarGate and the race names (as their the MAIN things there all ancy about)

If he advertised with the new release of SGU, and even on the MGM website, heck, no doubt he could have.

MGM might have even PAYED him to continue developing the game, and MGM just request 10% of the profits made (doubt that figure, but still, being payed to make it, and people buying resources with $$ also, awesome)

I have actually read the letter MGM sent..big corporations don't usually give a toss about the little guys...and how much do you think this game earns that Jason can afford a franchise fee?

And as I have mentioned to Jason, the word 'stargate' existed long before the movie or the series and it has always meant some sort of gateway to travel through space or between worlds. The only thing MGM could have a problem with is the imagery from the series. That's why a while back a lot of the imagery was changed.
