Its a large departure from SG-1 and Atlantis.. However some like it, I personally am still on the fence. Some episodes are good and others are just pointless. Its more serious in tone, along with focusing on characters rather than a specific antagonist.
I'm also on the fence for this first season; I will be watching it all the way through before I make a full decision about it; I agree with the above post that there are some decent epi's (although, I think they are relying on the communication stones a bit much so far, but that's just me); it will be intriguing to see how the second half of the season plays out.
If you decide to watch the commentaries of the episodes, definitely watch the ones where Gary Jones (Sgt. Harriman) & Peter DeLuise are paired together (especially on SG-1), and also whenever Gary Jones is with the other actors on Atlantis commentaries - absolutely flippin' hilarious!!!!! you will definitely be rofl'ing
