If this is REALLY about free speech, why do you want that a single person - namely the one who started the topic - to be able to de facto close all discussion on a topic and thus take the very same freedom of free speech away from the rest of the community?

the community has the right to speak at any time in a new topic on the subject. I do understand that the fear of multiple topics on the same subject(be it war or otherwise )is feared, how ever, that is the responsibility of the mods to control that. As much as it would be nice if your job was easy and neat, but it is not, we applaud all u do on the team. the Hence freedom of speech is not removed from the poster, but the freedom of Non" speech ids removed from the originator



How would you react if I made a topic on say the new alliance update admin is about to bring out and decide to close it just because I feel like it? It would be my right as a topic starter.

and i would have the right to restart the conversation, however, often new update topics are far and few between. More pressing would be what ever kind of topic

But at the same time I would take away the ability of the community to discuss said update as the forums allows only one thread per topic?

once a topic is close , there is no topic, once a new topic is started, there is one, and that one is the present topic

A single person deciding on a whim what the community can discuss and what not?

yes, a single person should have the right to end is discussion of some thing he starts, but dose not have the right to infer in some one else right to talk about the same thing, in a new topic.

I would ask that u now refrain from changing any thing in the thread in question
i believe u can understand that user qwould feel this way, alow some other mod to control the changes, as to avoid a "conflict of intersest" charge that would not serve to move this conervastion along

I do feel if the author doesn't like the way the topic can go he or she should atleast be able to put a temp lock on the topic, or ask a mod to do it and the problem would be handled, say if an author asks for a temp lock it lasts for a minimum of 8 hours to cool things down if its a war or stop the spam if it's more, after which discussion can be made, i think that would be the best way to resolve things! That infact is how i think this could be handled that way the user does not have the right to take away the words of the users, but still has rights in there thread because lets be frank if you post a topic it is your thread, so a temp lock of 8 hours to calm things down would suffice and if it keeps up, bring it up, maybe a new place like a different mod could handle those topics, bring it up as if you would the admins and they could handle what course of action they think should happen!

Seeing that Forgotten Ones are the race name you all chose ingame, I do not see how it could be insulting calling you by that name.

I have not warned anyone from FS lately so I do not know what you are referring to. Please elaborate.

In Deni's Deffense because i am trying to be fair, as of my last post i stuck up for FS, i thought you all were still the forgotten ones too... because you were for a long time, and if not all of you most of you... so maybe not anymore but you were so there for i wouldn't say that the topic was meant to be disrespectful, anyways who liked my idea!!!

I don't think all of you had the race name but i can tell you that alot of you did... i remember so i do know where Deni is coming from so i really don't think that it was supposed to be disrespectful, though i can see aswell why ya'll took those words and the name change as disrespectful especially seeing i was wrong aswell and thought they were your races, thats why when i read the topic i thought nothing of it...

the one thing FS has to remember the same as DDE

we don't know eachothers side wholey, we don't have access to your forums, so how were we to know you guys weren't like Rico's and making it be a thing where you had to be a forgotten one to join, just like they have to be system lords
