If you're emotionally mature, you can take a joke at your expense.
Sarcasm and mockery are the greatest forms of flattery. :-D

exactly my point roket..

for example, im in canada and we make fun of EVERYONE.. and sometimes your own kind gets made fun of too.. but no one minds it. as long as its in control, and not too much out of control..

so idk what you saying, when you say that we rnt allowed to make fun of muslims or christains.

Make fun of the Pope and I'll kill you. :-D

To illustrate how christians could react if they took a leaf out of the book of Muhammad. ;)

Well, it's also we aren't "allowed", Juliette posted the satirical cartoon b&w image illustrating that if it's not "allowed", it's because of "tolerance" from non muslim in Europe for example. Double standards in political correctness only in favour of CERTAIN "minorities", especially this one (as there's no such stance for buddhists for example, but oh strange...they are peaceful religion. Shall we see cower in those double standards considering this eh? :smt047 ).
If jokes against muslims are "not allowed", then so should those about buddhists, christians, etc...or all should be "allowed". But those thinking the "no to jokes for some, yes for rest" way, are full of double standards so they cannot think like that. It's beyond their capacity. :smt047

PS: this is different issue than racism we talk about here, as there's christians and muslims from all ethnies you can think of..

This might not be the case in USA, so I'm asking this to all people from Europe and Australia (and South Africa?).

It's not that I myself don't understand why, I just want your opinion/version about it. :)
I am personally against this fact, if you want to know my stance.

i asked my teacher this question (with regards to men-women) once.
her answer was that it is a known phenomenon, that the stronger faction is more susceptible to jokes, and it being the butt of jokes is more legitimate.
it took me some time to see that it was utter rubish.
i can't see this happening in apartheid south africa, for example
whoever is more aggresive and more willing to fight, will make his side less susceptible to being joked about.
the current wave of political correctness makes for the phenomenon you describe to be aparent.

every generation is different, as is every person themselves

Young gens of christians are less likely to take it wrong, however, for muslims, it can be as much young as old whom would overreact.

I call those people harboring double standards towards christians/muslim jokes "dhimmi", +/- the arabian word for submited people in Ottoman empire who happened to be of different religions than islam (christians and jews) who happened to be "protected" but had lesser political/civil rights & had to pay a tax to be able to keep the religion they followed. Why? Because they are not muslims, and act like if they were dominated or something and thus have different views caused by unrealized fear, or is it for pathetic eternal sorriness of past colonisation? Who knows.. :-k

Let's remember that islam is in its 1400's, this might explain that...we are in our 2000's...hebraism is in its 3200's or something..

You're wrong there.
Muslim world had their Crusades/Jihad before the Christian world did..
