I hate apple... never liked the way itunes hogs your mp3s for itself.

MS > Apple :D

for music.....

itunes = NO
VLC = NO
real player = NO
WMP = NO.

Winamp is fantastic. or even Foobar media player. but to all the above...... shun.... shuuuuunnnnn.....

for video though, VLC is ok. but do yourself a favour and install the CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack), has its own updated version of media player classic inside.

now excuse me while I vomit a gallon of blood to the thought of using Real Player....

I like WMP because of the library. I know a lot of people hate it and I know why they hate it. But if you're not hyper OCD, then it is a great music player. Plus it doubles as a media server. ;)

As far as videos go, I only use WMP to catalog them so I can watch them on my PS3.

VLC is complete crap, don't touch it. It'll give you AIDS. Use The KMPlayer, it's sleek and sexy and best of all, you don't have to install any nasty codec packs. :smt047

it's amazing how many people think one product is great while a different one is crappy...

I avoid KMP because its installer puts weird entries into the system registry. and considering the uninstaller doesnt remove a lot of the KMP install..... meh. also VLC isnt all that bad. it works, it doesnt do a bunch of weird crap like KMP, and you dont need to install a new codec pack for it. the codec pack I mentioned was to give you options with other codecs you wouldnt normally have, and makes a good group of codecs available to other players. ;)

VLC or WMC for videos, both work equally well imo, WMC is a little more streamlined, whereas VLC plays everything without a single codec package. For music I typically use WMP simply because its there...and I have no need on my **Filtered** laptop to bother with better programs, I run win7 32bit on this and win7 64bit on my desktop, never had any issues. Although with XP I did have to reinstall it every now and again hence the upgrade to 7.
