As long as we follow the rules +/- and don't act like angry preteens/rude trolls, we can be ok.
Afterall...my warning count is about 3 or 4 total (back in 2009 and 2008 and maybe 2007); for 5 years of forums activity..and five years of slighty provocating here & there!

So you see, the people who are banned/permabanned easily due to frequent warnings could have done otherwise and avoided them by behaving differently. It's not like warnings are given like ads on mails.

Hardly, look at the Colossum section. Compare the number of mod edits to that of total posts.

do we have rights as users ?
Simple answer.... NO
The forum owner has total power and discretion over it's content, sadly the forum owner in this case has entrusted this power and discretion to a bunch people who are bias due to their ingame links and friends, and the owner does not care that such power and discretion are frequently abused

what ingame links?
to put in our opinion here...
you have considerably more freedom than you could have had...
the staff system here is much more complex than most other forums have... take the ombudsman system... how many % of large forums have such system?

Most forums dont need an ombudsman.
It's the nature of having a game forum, the only people interested in the forum and willing to spend time doing the mod jobs are here because of the game, all have ingame allegiances & friends past or present so all are inherently bias. Of course some are deliberately and blatantly bias, and some maybe more at an unconscious level.

lulz Almost every forum on the internet is moderated by volunteers from the community they serve.
You are, however, correct about them not needing an Oms. They don't need an oms because they don't allow people to "appeal" their warnings and bannings, once you're warned/banned, it stays for good. And they will ban you for things these mods wouldn't even dream of slapping you on the wrist for.

It's true, I was warned after 4 posts on another forum, and then, not just banned, but deleted after the 5th. Can you imagine the wailing and weeping if that happened here?
Successful troll is successful.

Most forums dont need an Oms because rules are enforced evenly and fairly, this forum needed and Oms because of so many unfair mis-uses of mod powers. Oms position was not created on a whim, it was cause and effect.

I disagree.
This forum has an oms because of many "perceived" wrong doings of the mod staff.
Cases of real "misuse" of mod powers have been very rare.
It is usually users perceiving a mod action as biased or unfair, while de facto it was very well covered by the existing rules.
Looking at the recent complaints in the oms section, a vast majority of the complaints were made, because the users had a grudge towards the mod (usually triggered off by ingame actions) while the mod acted well within the rules of this forum.

If you call being banned because you annoyed a mod "fair use of mod powers" then I'm sure we can get a similar rule put in here.

I guess people should be careful about what they say about other forums, compared to those, or it might bite them in the back, at a later point!

I noticed some posts regarding "other forums", and well, be careful, mods and admins are listening!

Other forums have interesting systems.
We should apply those. I can see how the increased clarity and strict enforcement will be .. satisfactory.

I don't like it. There wouldn't be a need for an Oms since only those that are loved by the mods(and therefore by extension love the mods) would be on the forum.

Agreed, that would be a bad thing.

My response was .. sarcastic, in reaction to Jim's:
