A couple of possibilities maybe.....

IIRC, someone deleted their account with a nice planet and it was found. So I think deleting put the planets back into circulation.

Found it... yeah it was pollywog that deleted his account and his UP planets were found by others...

I had a dual that did the same thing. The owner never got it back, I never got it with my MS and it never was found by someone in game. I believe it may be a bug, I had not thought to report it at the time as I thought it was just a thing put in place by Admin to stop my planet sniping. But yea, pretty sure there's a bug where the planet never comes back. I believe the longest I've had one gone was maybe 3 days before someone found it, while the other was up to 3 months before I finally gave up and used my last beacon on it.
