First time I ever heard of this 'rainbow party' thing, in the UK a rainbow is still a optical effect of light passing through water vapor in the sky, and everyone I know still points them out when the see one. We do have to old tales of pots of gold buried by leprechauns at the end of the rainbow, and we all still remember the 'Rainbow Warrior' a ship owned by Greenpeace which was sunk by an illegal act of piracy by them damn froggies.

The only negative or slightly gay uses I heard referred to a Childrens TV show called rainbow, I think there was a silly song about George and Bungle in the Jungle from school days but dont recall the words, school days was a long long time ago, and using gay terms in a derogatory way is a very childish thing to do.

Adults should simply say each to their own.
