Re: The BIG questions

Hmm some good answers, not convinced they are true but in many cases truth seems to be subjective.

K, the BIG questions they have played on my mind today

I was recently told that airplanes dont have a row 13, it just goes 11/12/14, and many hotels dont have a room 13, simply because people think this number unlucky and wont book it.

1) Does anyone know if the above statement is true ?

2) Why do people think the number 13 unlucky ?

3) Why do people think the number 7 lucky ?

4) When people are asked to pick a random number they usually pick odd numbers, and usually containing the number 7. Why ?

5) Many computer progams claim to contain random events, random selection, all determined by random number selection, but I dont see how any logic based system can contain anything truly random, arent these all just complex formula completely predictable if you know the formula and original sources ?

Smoke and discuss

EDIT

xXJanitoXx wrote:hope this answers your questions also did you knwo that belly button most of the time does not actually come from your shirt or top but actually from your underwear?

Curious since I rarely wear any in the summer, and although never measured I dont think there is any difference in quantity of fluff between summer & winter, also underwear dont go that high.

Also why is it called a belly button ?

What would happen if you untied it ?

Why do some people have outies, was the cord cut to long ?

Has anyone ever tied the cord in a bow, that would look like a belly propeller

Re: The BIG questions

the statement's true about hotels most of the time, although some do have it.
about the planes, never heard of that.

13 was the number on the door of the first ever person thought of to be a witch. this is only one of the reasons.. the others, i don't know. but i know there exist other reasons tho.

7 is the number of days in a week, which comes from the number of days in which God created Earth. (actually in 6 days, and on seventh rested, but it's still counted as 7)

The last one isn't true. Most of the times, at least. If you know persons who choose numbers that contain 7, that's odd. I mostly noticed people choose numbers that contain a "2", most of times as beginning.

random is a relative term. random is a variable-type string. the computer chooses a number/text in conformity with a counter. E.g. every 3 miliseconds, the number 3 is chosen off the list [1,2,3,4]. Just an example.
Another would be :
List of "random" numbers : 1, 2, 1412, 12412532.
Time it takes for each number to be "read by the computer" : 2 miliseconds
Result : every number is chosen every 2/4 miliseconds. There's not really any human way to make sure that the computer chooses a number twice in a row, or so, but there are lucky ones. Anyway, this is the explanation of the "randomness"

BIG question :
Why do kids grow up liking brutality, terrorists, and evil overall, end up in becoming law-abiding cops?

Not sure if thats true, but most people like to believe they are in control as it makes them feel safe. I would guess that using force and intimidation gives a certain group of people that illusion of control.

It wanted to go to KFC.

Another, even more important question :
What's the ducks all about, Corran?
