The one I quoted was a civil court proceeding. There are numerous court proceeding, Kit, because the lawyers can't send out the letters without getting permission from a judge. ;)

The thing is, It is the users of 4Chan not the boards itself.

Same thing can be done anyway on the internet practically.

It is a laugh how they want money. They wont get it.

Court Action will be thrown out. Why? Because you can completely wipe your hard-drive and other things. and Ask them too prove that it wasn't some guy stealing your internet who downloaded these files.

Law is behind the times, and so are artists (music). Internet sharing has became so easy that even 7 year olds can download songs.

Operation Payback was asked for if you want my opinion. Most of these attacks are to protect the freedom of the internet, and freedom in general.

4chan cannot be held responsible, the members which can be anyone cannot be held responsible, anon is not a group for your information.
Anon is Anon. One cannot say you are apart of anon and you arnt.

It is random people hiding behind anonymity working for a cause.

To sum it up

May death come swiftly and painfully to those that would oppose the pirates of the cyber seas!
