Guys it's been a week and they have more players online than any game ever. Servers are really bad atm, treyarch has announced that it is working to fix that. Also, they're working on making the hit detection better and fixing a lot of other stuff. There's rumors that they might unpatch sniping which would be awesome, even shotguns are more useful atm. I'd say give it a week or so and connection should hopefully be better, if not then it's not treyarch's fault, it's activision since they ultimately control server usage. Hope and pray guys, activision's been a let down for call of duty since COD4.

That sounds like it would solve almost all of my major complaints about the game right. I realize though the lag and minor bugs like that though will be fixed just gotta wait... I don't hold that against the game, but it still makes me angry

I don't blame you, a lot of people including myself are getting frustrated with the ridiculous server side issues in this game. Hopefully treyarch delivers, they usually do keep up with community demands.

If they unpatch Sniping, Treyarch is truly retarded.
I can snipe just fine, and I can quick scope just fine. People just want the ability to shoot somebody without actually having to see their targets to stroke their e-peens.

Ya I pretty much agree, besides the health change so it taking 2 shots some or most times I find it adequate now that I have the 4th sniper. An easier gun to get used to, or maybe I'm imagining it.

I haven't used it, but my buddy Biznats was just telling me that it works nicely and you can one shot people if you hit them correctly (not in the head, obvs)

Lol I've sniped competitively in GB's and been in the competitive sniping scene. If you know anything about the competitive sniping scene, you might have heard of several of the teams I've joined: AmP, RaGe, eXiLe, Theory, rM.
I can pull 2.0 w/l ratios and 5 kdr's just fine sniping itself. L96A1 is a great sniper. When I want them to unpatch sniping, I mean that by unpatching it they take it back to what sniping was in COD4 with the reg scope. And cod4 reg scope sniping is by far the best and most fun sniping that's been in any call of duty game, agreed by basically everyone who knows anything about sniping. Also, it COD4 sniping took more skill, and faster reaction time.
Btw, if you can quickscope in BO, then you're god. There's only two ways to do it, using the variable scope or the extended mags, both of which require precise drag scoping that even the top snipers in the game (Dtreats, Mafiuh, H3CZ) are still trying to get used to. And even then, there's a lot of luck involved because of game mechanics.
EDIT: If you're talking about private matches, there is a way to quickscope like COD4 and is currently being used for the competitive sniping scene.

I thought you were speaking of MW2 where it really "took a shine", if you get me. Not CoD4. I saw a few quick scopers in CoD4, but not nearly as many in MW2.
I know of those teams, or some of them anyways. I did it competitively a bit but never found a team worth doing it seriously with so I kind of wasted my talent playing with my friends who are a little bit worse than myself.
I don't drag snipe. Whenever I've been sniping and a guy gets to close for comfort - I just put my crosshairs over him as fast as possible while scoping in and usually I'm aimed right at him.
It's usually 9/10 times if the shot hits, he dies and the one time that he doesn't die, I have shot him in the leg.

MW2 quickscoping was too easy, to the point where I decided that I'd become a marathon sniper - took a little more skill atleast.
If they unpatch the sniping and take away the sway - which really does make sniping a useless factor in this game in helping play the objective atleast - then it would be like cod4 sniping. And I played the "private" beta where sniping wasn't patched. It wasn't easy to do. It took skill, just like in cod4, and unlike MW2 not everybody could pick it up and do it.
Best thing about COD4 sniping, not so much now as when cod4 was the call of duty to play, people did not JUST quickscope. They quickscoped when they needed to, and they actually helped their team. We got tons of people now who know about quickscoping thanks to MW2 but the majority of them don't play for the win or just run around aimlessly trying to quickscope every single shot. Even with unpatched sniping, that's not possible in black ops. And I like that.
Go to private match, in customized setting set steady aim to 25%, and play with a few friends and snipe with steady aim on. It is actually a lot of fun to do.

I play exactly as you have said for the CoD4 snipers. I'll quick scope when I need to, but make sure I hit my shots when I take them.
I'm tired of hearing "Oh you hard scoper" or some **Filtered** like that. This is why I do not like Quick Scoping, even if I'm decent at it. I cannot stand it, especially since MW2. I don't do 1v1's either for the simple fact that it takes away from the game as a whole. If you understand me.
Black Ops has a very good balance in Sniping, I did it a bit today. It was much fun, however frustrating it was to fight in close quarters when trying to move around and encountering a damn SMG.
I am very good at Objective games, and decent at TDM. It forces players to stop corner camping and move their ass.
By the way before I sleep, I just wanted to say..Strikeout > You.

LMAO strikeout is probably the best shotgun...olympia being teh worst.
I do 1v1s if I'm bored, but I do not think they require skill neither do I think they're "competitive". I just have fun with them sometimes with friends. What it comes down to at the end of the day is who has the better headset.
I'll argue that sniping isn't balanced in this game just for the simple fact that most of not all guns including shotguns (with the exception of the olympia) can provide better gameplays and help teams play the objective more. People argue that sniping in this game is "the way it should be", but if a minimum 1.5 second wait with a good shot is needed for a guaranteed kill (quickscoping requires way too much luck because of game mechanics) then that's really unbalanced, especially in a shooter where the first shot matters alot.
Currently I am out of a console so no call of duty for me

but I've still managed to play black ops more than the average gamer thanks to a friend with an xbox and pulled a 3-4 kd average in most games, with losing just 1 domination match and 1 demolition match against a full party while stuck with players who like to camp at the back of the map. This is out of 80+ games so that's a pretty high w/l ratio

Not counting the random connection fails cause of server issues. lol.
I'm still glad this game came out though I don't know how much more of MW2 I could have taken. The game was just too easy, and too noob-friendly. Black Ops is tough, and not for everybody, but it requires more skill than any call of duty game in the past. I like that aspect of it.
Lol and before I leave for my first class, just wanted to say: Nuketown = worst map in the game. Broken spawn system (yet again) combined with that map = less strategy more luck.

I joined a Demolition Game, we're getting roflstomped. They are spawn camping us by standing up on the stairs leading up or on the railings above it. They had the bomb closest to us as the only one left, I protected it. Took us into overtime. I ended up winning it for us by shutting down both bomb sites.

I am not as good in Black Ops as I was in CoD4/MW2/WaW because I don't have enough time to play, but I can still hold my own against decent players.
Seriously though, I can quick shot around a corner with that Strikeout like a boss. It's massively sexy. I was playing against a party of 6 last night, with a bunch of retards on my team. What gun do I use on Demolition? Strikeout. I planted every bomb, and defused 5 bombs out of 6 that were planted but I covered the 6th guy against two guys while he defused it.
Strikeout ftw.
