I suggest we do let MFC calm down first and continue this discussion when he sees himself fit to have one without resorting to insults.

If the mod wasnt lazy, could he not take out the spam? It takes seconds to fix a post with one line of "spam"...

Yes they could BUT, BUT.
Many people have often complained about mods doing that in the past, so just moving the post is much easier and simpler to do.

then the person has to repost the relevant parts, and he might not know which parts were offtopic, so he might repost everything and we are back where we started.
an edit of the post(removing spam) explaining when something is removed for being offtopic is probably the best solution i can think of

Theoretically I agree with you - explaining to every user why their post was removed or edited would be the best way.

Practically, it is not feasible considering the number of mods we have and the amount of spam posts that are moved or edited on a daily basis.

Re: Ĕɱƿŷ (Deleting Posts)

General is a dangerous ground to mod as it is the section where the black & white mod decisions are fewest.

Thus we prefer not to let loose inexperienced mods there but reassign mods who already have gathered experience in other sections to General.

Further, keep in mind that mods do sacrifice a lot of their free time to do an ungrateful job. Thus we cannot expect from them to spend hours every day to explain to every user why their post was moved.

Instead, if a post was moved/edited, the user is free to ask the mod why that was the case and they will get a timely answer.

There are alot of users that love this community enough that they would gladly become a mod of anything.. Then the already mods of that area could move up to General Section...

And that is the reason for us to have Call for mods on a regular basis. The next one coming shortly ;)

Re: Ĕɱƿŷ (Deleting Posts)

Firstly let's define deleting.

Deleting = clicking the "x" button and the post being gone for good (with exception to a back-up)

Let's not keep going over the same thing...... posts are never deleted (with exception of maybe Market). Posts are always dumped, where private or public dump. If you get you argument right at the start then it helps later on.

Now, it's funny how people in this thread start piping up about this "replying to Mod comments" and "partially on/off topic posts" when it has affected them, and have never said anything in the past when others have brought it up. Clearly shows it was of no concern until it affects them or their thread.

Replying to Mods has always been a no no. Use the PM function to discuss a Mod issue. Similar to arguing a warning before going to Oms.

As for posting on/off topic posts, surely anyone must be able to tell which part of their own post is off topic.
