I speak to esker on Facebook, he's doing just fine in college.

Ghostygoo has 2 children now, but is still a massive geek ( Lego millenium falcon for Christmas I believe )

Corkscrew , real life got him, last I heard he was doing ok in life which isn't bad considering how hard Ireland have Been hit.

Puck I believe was doing a degree in something IT based. Busy boy!

Replijake checks in every now and then, he is awesome still.

You all still have a few relics lying around... Tekki, I will take that action :P

Tekki wrote:Another “it was better in the past thread”… do we really need yet another one? For all those complaining it was better in the past, why don’t you put as much effort as you do remembering the past into making the present as good or better?

It’s one thing to be fond of the past and to remember it with happiness, it’s quite another to venerate it unthinkingly just because it was the past. So here’s a suggestion for everyone, if you think it was ‘better’ in the past, go make a suggestion and ACT on that suggestion to make the game better now.

The past of the game for me holds both good and bad memories and some of the people mentioned and respected all I can do is LOL at that because let’s face it, individual interaction makes for very different memories and if some of them returned… oh I’d be happy to show them how much I learnt from them.

For once, I agree with you Tekki. The past was great and I'll remember it that way. But I say let's live in the now and try to improve the present if we feel it needs improvement.

Reschef wrote:Only thing I "cry" about is still the race stuff, with the old 4 / 8 races we at least had a good base for roleplay, nowadays we have Borgs, Pirates, Sith, Titans, Dreadens and all kind of more or less strange names in the race rankings ... they just don't blend, either with each other nor with themselves.

Anyway. I guess everyone who has already played a few years would want to have one or another guy back. Former Alliance mates / leaders, "legends" etc ...
But as Tekki said, indulging in reminiscences won't help us much, lets better try to help this game, either by improving itself or by bringing back some of the guys mentioned in this thread :)

Agreed.

Mathlord wrote:Too many to count anymore. Old alliance friends and leaders, Opticallove, Brothercrit, Jay, Metal, EvilHomer, Nox, Manetheren. Wolf359, Badwolf, Esker (the true roleplayer), JUAN, Saz, Goo, Puck, forgive_me. The people that made the game what it is today. Shoot, I even miss Replijake and his brutal honesty  I could spend all day running off names of old friends. Makes me want a time machine.

I recommend for anyone nostalgic to go read through the old threads in the general archive. Some are truly hilarious and awesome!

i started reading this thread and thinking "those were all newbies when i was going" then i hit this post, which brings back my contemporaries. oh man, i miss the days i spent chatting with Goo on msn and in the private mod section. we had some good times. and then there was the time Jason(Forum) deleted one of my topics cause i was talking about playing "Star Ocean: Till the End of Time" over playing SGW's because the game had lost it's "flair" back then...

to Tekki/others who want us to "bring back the good days". for each of us "elders" who reminisce about the past, to truly bring it back, we would have to convert 100 people each, just to make a DENT in the mindset of the game now. the game just isn't played the same way anymore, and for some people going back to those days is a "step backward" in "strategic thinking". this is because it wasn't all about the "strategy" it was also about the fun, and being able to play however you wanted to.

While I can't speak for others relating to this, not all of us reminisce just to think about how much better the game was back then. Of course there were good and bad elements then and now. I choose to reminisce because there were some really awesome people that a good number of us knew all those almost 6 years ago now that I haven't had a chance to talk to or lost contact with over the years. Whenever these threads come up that spark some of the still in-tact brain cells in my head, it's a nice reminder of old friends and enemies that added to my gaming experience way back then. So I for one am appreciative of all the random threads that pop up that help remind me of those good times.

You realize you are less than two weeks away from your sixth anniversary Psi :P I reckon us old fogies deserve a nursing home by now...I want my prune juice!

Some of us are still around in farflung corners of the game.

Good to see my old sparring partner ETL is around still- we had some great arguments mate back in the day. And of course old allies like Robe who is going strong. Also a hey to Odin, hope all is well mate and you survived the floods without damage.

Hey Avitir, hope you are doing well.

Despite the fact that I've shifted IDs over time, my original account ID is not -that- young. I was around for the Crystal Force v Omega war and a few others just I wasn't known and was very very good at keeping quiet :D Geoff, Zaphor and a few others taught that lesson good.

I have alot of fond memories of the past, Fond wars, Enemies and many friends lost to the echelons of time...

... So its good to remember, But don forget the current too! There is always good times to be had, so long as you are willing to have them.

Buck : Everyone who had my back has quit the game.
