What's fairer than one person one vote and the highest number of votes wins?

AV is beyond terrible. It's useless, and it won't solve anything.

this, very much this

firstly, i seems a bit off, that some people get their second choice taken into consideration, when others will not

secondly, if you didnt like a party enough to vote for them first time, having them get in on your second choice is a pretty poor alternative

Today i got this A/V thingy in the post and after careful examination and further investigation i have come to a conclusion, and that is, they can take this A/V voting thing and stick it where the proverbial don't shine! :smt021

You have pretty much all day from like 8am to 10pm so there are *no* excuses for not voting if you are registered to do so!

You don't quite get to choose the voting system though....as true proportional representation on a national scale is not being offered :(

well, to put it simply, I voted yes because of this simple senario

we have an area with 2 main parties A and B who generally fight over the seat, there is a 3rd party C which gets about 20% and several minor ones who turn up in funny hats and carrying bowls of custard (yes, one did that a few years ago) everyone who votes for A hates B, everyone who votes for B hates A, but they're loyal to their party, so they vote... and whichever party gets in roughly 40% of the voting population got EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE of what they wanted,

BUT, everyone says C would have been a middle of the road option, bit wet, but better than those other idiots...

so lets say 80% of A's voters vote C as 2nd choice, 80% of B's voters do the same, and of course, all of C's voters...

hmm, seems C got a lot of people who 'don't mind' them being in government..

(except C showed their true colours in the last election and are now branded with a big T on their forhead and people yelling 'unclean unclean! whenever they walk by)
