Juliette wrote:Also, regarding Auschwitz; I can't really think of a reason why you'd want to go there. That's like visiting the 'former' Buddhas of Bamiyan, see the black hole that is the 'soul' of mankind. But if you're into that sort of thing..

I've visited Auschwitz - both Auschwitz and Auschwitz Birkenau (2 camps actually and there were plans for a 3rd one to be built but thankfully war ended before they could even finish Auschwitz Birkenau entirely).. It's one of the most shocking things I have ever seen, but nonetheless one of the most interesting (albeit showing the evil in its real form and the most devious things a human could do to another human) tours I have ever gone on.. Believe you me that I despise the actions of Nazis and a lot of other people that have done such inhumane things as they did..but I would definitely recommend everyone with a good stomach and even the slightest interest in history to visit the place.. Granted our guide was great and the other group didn't have the same luck but..those that have visited the place know that some things cannot be said with words, you see and feel them when you're there.
