I like the idea as long as:
-when in broker planet cannot bestolen but doesn't add bonus to owner,
-this cannot be done too often within a week, and cannot be done with same planet within a week,
-lose 1% in effect for stats of planet.

Planet bonus loss is an issue with selling planets, but also on big well defended planets the planet def is an issue.

Planet defs currently have to be sold ( at a loss like weapons ) and I dont think planets defs should be transferable any more than weapons should be transferable. If this idea went ahead I say planet defs should be sold before transfer or lost during transfer, and any merlin days on the planet should not be transferable.

Use of MT and MS out of action for 24 hours seems fair.

Also a time limit on a single planet transfers, and limit of who many planets you can send/receive in a week to stop them being moved around PPTing playing to keep them safe or transferring 10x attack planets to one alliance member for a massing, or 10x high UP planets to get someone past plague for unmassable def building, then sending them back to the original owners.

simple, make it so the planet does not give you attributes while in a trade, take a trade spot away, and takes one MT to use, if you really want to protect your planet that woudl not be the way to do it lol

Have the defences striped when traded. You can sell them, or leave them, and have them vaporised.
Also, as was said, allow them to behave as other resources, and like other resources, no benefits. Merlin should be transferred, but planet defences shouldn't be.
