The only reported post in the Temple today was Nostra reporting his own post.

d. Pornographic and criminal content.
Posting anything of a pornographic nature is not permitted on the SGW forums. Pornographic being defined as: Sexually explicit pictures, writing, or other material whose primary purpose is to cause sexual arousal (dictionary.com). The SGW forums are not the place for discussing or facilitating criminal activity. This includes arranging to carry out a crime or the posting of illegal images (including copyrighted property).

Consequence:
This will result in the issuing of warning points. Very serious comments will be given more warning points. This will be judged with input from the Forum Administrators and Moderators. In cases of criminal activity the Administrators will not hesitate to contact the authorities.

This is the only rule I could find which would be appropriate. As the drugs mentioned are illegal, discussion of them, even just "I love <insert illegal drug here>" should not be allowed IMO.

Without there being a report or a rule against it, I was not required to mod the thread. I took the OP into consideration and determined that it did not warrant immediate moderation, especially since no one seemed to be upset by it. If there are people upset by it, I welcome them to report it officially and I will address the issue.

If no one would like to follow through with my suggestion, I will take it as nothing more than this thread attempting to start a fire where there may only be smoke.

Incorrect. The rules speak of criminal activity. IE: Using Illegal drugs in a country/area where said is illegal

What is with you people lately? I mean, honestly? This is getting a bit absurd.

Are you all that bored you must find something to start a problem for? There have been drug threads before, and they have faded away in the past. The fact you bring this up here after the original topic was locked is not going to help.

All you had to do was PM a Moderator, Global, or Admin to get a clarification or ask that they speak about the rule to come to a decision regarding it and it would have been handled.

Except that my own judgement came into play. Jack was being Jack and I knew the post to be in total jest. This is not the first drug related thread I have seen on this forum and I never saw them modded before I was hired into the mod team.

I apologize if my personal opinion differs from your own, but I saw no need to mod the topic. I did see reason to discuss the topic with Jack, however. Without people reporting it, I figured everyone on this forum knows Jack and knows what he likes to pull around here and that none of them had a serious problem with it. Had it been reported, I would have done more than simply speak with the OP.

I admit to being brand spanking new to moderation 'round these here parts. I'm still in the learning curve. But it doesn't seem like many of you want to help me do my job better, either.

Today has been nothing but attacks made against moderators for being human and making mistakes in saying the wrong things. We aren't perfect. We screw up in posting for personal reasons, and we sometimes miss things (like what everyone else on a forum is thinking but not saying because they we aren't mind readers and they aren't using the report function).

If a regular user had posted the thread, and not a mod, you would have used the report function (I would hope). But because it was a mod, you skipped the report function and immediately came here to complain about us not doing our jobs.

I'm getting sick of people bringing down mods just because of their positions. Stop it with the special treatment and use the report function. If the thread is not moderated because of the opinion of the mod who dealt with it and you still believe it to be serious, go to the GM or an Admin. Do not come in here and start demanding "what is wrong with you people".

What is wrong with you that you cannot make the effort to hit a button, but can make the effort to create a thread demanding action from us that could have been done by simply reporting the post?

Mo I didnt come here to complain to anyone about how you do your jobs, I asked a question at the end of my post and it escalated into perceived complaining, well my question still stands and Im not complaining, I am asking. So I dont think it proper for you to assume complaining which seems to be the common term you people use when challenged and you are wrong. And this area is talk to the mods direct..not argue over a post. So stop arguing and answer my question.

I figured the answer was clear enough.

They are allowed to exist because there is nothing in the rules against the discussion of drugs on this forum. There have been debate threads regarding the legalization of drugs, there have been other threads purely made in jest, and I'm sure more threads than that in the past (which I was never around for). There is no rule against them. As was said previously in this thread.

They are not moderated because no one reports them or seems to have problems with the threads. Thus, they are allowed to remain in the forum. That is where I went into the "if you've got a problem with them, report them" tangent.

It's up to the Admins to discuss whether or not a rule against them should be put into place.

For the record: "What is the matter with you people" can be classified as a complaint, in my opinion, so I used that particular word. It was not a word that I was advised to use upon receiving my mod-hood.

Interestingly enough, the only mention of doing illegal drugs were by those that objected to such mentions.

The ever addicting Coca Cola uses coca leaf extract in it's production and contains trace amounts of cocaine. The coca leaf extract is a by product created when producing cocaine. This is done right here in the U.S., the cocaine is sent to another company in the States for purification. Legally.

Opium is used, legally, to produce morphine. The States is the biggest consumer of legal opium products.
