Incorrect. The only thing that matters is fun. Whether it's with a working game or just with forums.

Anyway. GJ.

Since when has this game been about fun :P

Reasonable question. However, it is not so much the game which is about fun, as 'the game'. Amusing.

I find it more fun to watch you all banter around on the forum. As for the game I find it more enjoyable then fun.

Re: Please just say Thank you?

Those hearts were genuine thanks. Admin J seems to have decided long before anyone started complaining what he was going to do and I salute him for that!

Who said I was trying to be funny??? I'm trying to get a rise out of people at this stage. Just pointing out complaining about people complaining is a tad silly as you are becoming what you hate.

Well most of the complaints are more than just one line so why keep reading if its just going to annoy you. Also why respond to a complaint when they irritate you if you've got nothing constructive to say as it just creates controversy when there was no need for it. Perhaps I made my response too simple I apologise!

I think you'll find with most people around here they don't get annoyed. it may sound like it but they don't. For example, your response makes you sound like you are annoyed, I bet your not.

Thanks Admin J for allowing people to mash their buttons again. :)

Re: Please just say Thank you?

The resources aren't worthless if you intend to sell them for real money. In fact, the resources of SGW single-handed bought me a drivers license, for instance. I wouldn't say drivers license is worthless and since it was basically bought with SGW resources that must logically mean they aren't worthless either.
It just depends on perspective of things and what you wish to do with the resources.

You are implying all resources have potential value. Your intent to sell them did not give them actual value. While your resources may have been as valuable as your drivers license (with a short stop at a conversion into valuta), it does not logically follow that an equal amount of resources in an account of someone else would have the same value.
Exempli gratia, the resources you sold made the price of resources drop. Near insignificantly so, but it did. The same batch of resources sold at another point in time would have a different value.
The potential value of resources is not made actual by the intent to sell, but by their suffering being purchased. Technically, the buyer gives them value.
While the intent to sell is instrumental in actualising the potential value of resources, it is not the deciding factor.

Having said that, good job! Your decision to trade GW resources for a drivers license shows good business acumen. You will benefit/have benefited greatly from a license, if you cannot afford a driver. Good decision, Neimenljivi.

Re: Please just say Thank you?

Well I never said my intention of selling resources gave value to the resources, not intentionally anyway. If we are so specific it's supply and demand that give value to the resources. I never said equal amount of resources in an account of someone else would have the same value - it'd have a lesser value in account of someone who can afford to buy quad-trillions of naq on a monthly basis, and far greater value in account of someone who just started to play SGW and has no money to spend on online game. Supply & demand, and most of all introduction of miners are the reason why resources were so much more valuable in the golden days.
My point, however, still remains - the resources aren't worthless. They are worth a lot more to those in-need of them and a lot less to those that have them in spades, but they are still worth something. Same goes for the money into which they can be conversed - the rich people have it in spades, therefore the same amount of money won't have the same value to them as it will have to poor people who need money desperately. Point remains - nobody will say no to any bulk of money.

Actually having a driver is not really common in our country, I'd say about 80% of adult people have drivers license (just a rough estimate) - the other 20% being mostly elder people who aren't allowed to drive anymore. So having a driver, especially at my age, would be pretty boring, expensive and actually the way things are in my country - downright stupid.

Re: Please just say Thank you?

Indeed, the danger of assigning resources a value, is not only that you "lose" resources during downtime, but that a person attacking/raiding you is damaging your property.

Would you sue someone for attacking your account? Or perhaps call the police because someone stole your resources?

Reductio ad absurdum ftw :-D

Yes. That is a sound argument indeed.
Thank you for this explanation.

There is something to be said for suing someone for stealing resources. After all, there is a non-actual discussion on taxing virtual economies: Old clipping http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2009 ... worlds.ars
If it can be taxed, 'thieves' can be sued.
