Skype isn't available on all phones.
Buying used phones is stupid, therefore so is JT's suggestion, which is the only way to get a jailbroken iPhone that cheap.
Battery life is a big deal, when battery runs out after an hour or two of nominal use, you'll quickly regret your purchase, especially if you are not in a position where you can easily and regularly charge your phone. Nominal use isn't calls, but texting, surfing the web or using any sort of messenger.
4g is only important if you actually plan on using it regularly and are in an area where you have RELIABLE 4g service. My phone has 4g support. But there is no 4g service where I live and the 4g service in Austin is subpar at best. Another thing to remember is that it WILL drain your battery faster than just about anything else, moreso if the service is unreliable.
Prepaid is not always better than contract. For one, many prepaid options have poor service. Another is that you can actually save money with a contract over a prepaid device, though that tends more to be the exception. It all just really depends on what is available in your area.
This might surprise people, but an 8MP camera ain't always better than a 5MP camera. It all depends on a vast number of variables. I wont bother getting into the technical details, you're welcome to do the research yourself though.
Memory size is definitely a concern, especially if you plan on storing a large number of quality songs on your phone. I'm not talking about 30MB FLAC files either, I mean 5MB MP3 files. I have 737 songs on my phone at about 3GB. But the size of the card that comes with your phone is a none issue. Rather find out the size of the largest SD card the phones can hold, I have 8GB for my phone, that not enough for me. Once again, I am the exception. I have quite a few videos on my phone. 8GB should be enough for most people.
Do you plan on hotswapping the SD card? Not all phones are capable of this. The biggest flaw with my phone is that I have to pull the battery to get to the SD card. This is definitely an annoyance. However, my phone is compatible with upto 32GB SD cards, so the problem is minor.
Slide phones are just like flipphones. They are very vulnerable to abuse. They're also not really worth the hassle when you consider wonder little options such as Swype. My mother has a sliding phone. I told her not to get it on that feature alone, but she wouldn't listen. She just had to have the physical keyboard. Now? She never uses it, despite using her phone for texts and email all the goddamn time.
Another thing to consider about slide phone is that the buttons tend to be rather small, if you have fat finger, you might be better off with Swype.
That said, there are other very important considerations to take into account. One such example is the screen type. My phone has the old screen type and my mother's has the newer OLED or whatever. The image on my mother's phone is very nice, very vibrant, especially during the day. But her phone has burn ins, whereas mine does not and it's not really a bad display either.
I can't make a decision with the supplied data, it's not enough. So without knowing what phones they are, I refuse to vote.

Buy an overpriced piece of **Filtered** with closed architecture and a ridiculously limited app market? Sure there's a ton of apps on iTunes, but it's all copypasta.
iOS should simply be out of the question. Windows is better, Android is best. I'm not just saying that because I have an Android phone, I'm saying it because it's true. Which is WHY I have an Android phone.
When I bought my phone I did a lot of research, I was actually very seriously considering getting an iPhone but I went with the HTC Evo instead after much research. It is foolish to not research something like this before you make a commitment.

One is HTC, one is Samsung. I like Samsung. All of my phones so far have been Samsung. HTC would be a new experience, but I have heard good things.
A lot of people like to talk a lot of **Filtered** about HTC Sense, the GUI for HTC phones. But I like it. In my opinion it is a lot better than the basic Android GUI.

Yeah you can buy a phone with closed architecture......or happily let people scam you because you brought something that had less security then an oxfam shop!
ofthe 2 to select from it's the one of the right all the way, the only thing the one on the left has going for it is 4G, and as already mentioned we're probably a couple of years away from that being "useable"

Doing want to get scammed? Then don't but everything with a pretty picture and pleasant title. Any scam apps would be flagged by the userbase and subsequently deleted.
Besides which market was it that featured $1,000 wallpapers again?

There are still 257 reported apps awaiting deletion on the android market lol more still on the google market
and the $1,000 wallpapers wasn't a scam, it was for people with waaaayyyyy to much money to try to be flashy..overpriced? for sure...but people knew exactly what they were buying, and they received the goods

I don't mean to be rude, but I work for an independent mobile phone retailer and as someone who prides himself on speaking the truth, I refuse to entertain the idea of selling someone something that is absolutely not for their needs for the sake of putting money in the till.
I'm happy to talk to you impartially, and logically about the best option. If you want to, PM me. If not, then just carry on reading the conflicting garbage/and spam on the thread.

Sounds like you're insecure about your opinions regarding phones. If not, then feel free to post them here for the world to see. Otherwise, shut your **Filtered** mouth as you seem to not know WTH you're talking about.

Sounds like you're insecure enough to start running your mouth Jack. I didn't call your opinion into question. I simply responded to the thread starter with an alternative that didn't involve absolute bullcrap like the stuff that you just posted. You really seem to fail to understand something don't you, people don't always want another persons opinion. It's always more polite to simply offer it instead. If they take it, great, if they don't, fine.
If you honestly want to contest my judgement on mobile phones then do it via PM. I have a little more respect than to dish dirty laundry on this board fella. Sort yourself out and don't be a sour rear all your life.
Seriously, who do you think you are?
